The horde of boys, which wasn't as big as it might latter have grown as it consisted only of the more ecchi and gullible of the population, was stopped by the unexpected and totally out of character behaviour. Akane wanted to put a stop to the nonscence before it infected the rest of the school and her time as a dragon had taught her bitter lessons in the darkest depths of her pride and anger. She did not know how she had gotten a second chance, but she was not going down that path again.
"I surrender!" Akane announced, eliciting a mass of cheers. Then she added sweetly, "give your names to Nabiki, boys. I'm sure she'll arrange a dating roster... for a price," eliciting a mass of groans. The guys were also some of Nabiki's best customers and, knowing how much she charged for non-ecchi candid snapshots, they dreaded how much she would squeeze out of them to buy dates with her sister.
"What nonsense is this?" Tatewaki demanded as he strode forth from his ... strategic observation point. "Surely such a feirce young warrior as thee, fair Akane, would never surender to us without a fight?"
"What do you mean 'us', Kuno-sempai?" Akane demanded cooly. "I only surrendered to them! You stood apart from the crowd in the background, like a coward waiting for these guys to wear me down, so I most certainly did not surrender to you!"
"What?" Tatewaki sputtered. "I most certainly did not! I merely waited for you to deal with these plebians, knowing you would have no trouble subduing the riff raff before facing me in honourable combat after I made a suitably dramatic entrance!"
"Whatever," Akane dismissed. "This isn't a samari drama, Kuno-chan. This challenge is now over, so it looks like you missed out on your only chance to date me."
"Never!" Tatewaki decried. "I will never accept..."
"Breaking your word so soon, Kuno-chan?" Akane demanded acidly, borrowing her sister's demenor. "You were the one who put down the terms of this farce, so you have to accept the result."
"I... I..." Tatewaki trembled as his pride conflicted with desire.
