He was so, so tired.
Seeing his fiancee, the one he'd fought princes and gods to save, so brazenly dismiss him had hurt beyond any pain he'd ever known. Even the techniques he'd learned to calm his anger couldn't dull the pain.
He was a tool. Ever since he was little, he'd been nothing more than a tool. First to his father, who only saw him as a meal ticket, and now to all the girls who claimed to want to be his wife. All the abuse, the humiliation, the insecurity... He endured a lifetime of pain for the benefit of others.
He'd been the instrument of other people's desires for so long that he never really stopped to think of what he wanted. Sure, he complained about the arrangement and pouted about it for the last few years, but what did he want? It never really mattered. Letting others decide his life's path had hurt, but he'd always seen it as preferable to the loneliness of resisting.
No more. At that moment, he resolved that he would never let another push him into a path that would only bring pain. Contracts be damned, Ranma Saotome would not be driven into an eternity of misery because his asshole father only saw him as a means to an end. Not anymore.
Walking into the guest room, he silently packed his things into a knapsack, then grabbed a paper and pen, writing as best he could.
Father.
For the last fourteen years, I've done my best to live through the pain that your contracts and scheming have brought me. I've tried to push through it, to be the man you thought I should be. In return, you've sold me off to anyone who would feed you, engaged me against my will, burdened me with a humiliating curse, and exposed my heart to unimaginable pain. Today was the last straw. I overheard Akane and Shampoo making love in Akane's room. I don't know how long it's been going on, but she, Shampoo and Ukyou have been having a three-way affair, using the engagements that you forced upon me as a smokescreen to deflect prying eyes from their trysts. I have decided to leave Tokyo, effective immediately. I'm done being your way of shirking responsibility. I will not tell you where I am going. Any attempts to find and retrieve me will be met with lethal force. You know what I can do.
I will always hate you, Father.
Ranma.
Laying that on the futon he and his father had shared during their stay here, he then turned and headed out, careful not to call any attention to himself as he left the Tendo household forever.
It wasn't until the dojo was out of view that Ranma began to wonder exactly where he would go. He had so many things in mind, and not a one held any certainty for him.
It took a while for him to come to a decision, but once he did, it seemed so obvious.
