Lina took a deep calming breath, even though she didn't need to breathe anymore.
"Before the War of the Monster's Fall, a mage was working on a couple of things. One was a way to boost a human's maximum potential. The other, were golems out of the other three elements: fire, air, water. He came up with Pyr Vrymer and Aeth Vrymer. The fire and air golems, howevere he wasn't satisfied. They didn't have what he was looking for. He turned his attention back to boosting human maximum. It would have all came for naught, if hadn't encountered a chimera. HE quickly researched all he could of chimeras and was going to do the modifications he wanted. He chose a young girl to be his first subject. Using bits from a fire golem and a wind golem, he turned the girl into a chimera."
"Miss Lina," Amelia interjected. "Are you saying we're now chimeras?"
Lina nodded slowly. "I'm afraid we are Amelia. But back to the story, the girl went nuts from the sudden boost. Her body and mind couldn't handle it. The mage thought and bound the girl to a ring. The ring acted as a buffer for the girl. She could now use her enhanced powers without a lot of pain and subsequently going nuts. The mage theorized that after six months had passed, the girl could be freed from the ring and she would be fine."
"Was she?" Zelgadis asked.
Lina threw up her hands in exasperation. "The War of the Monster's Fall happened before he could complete that experiment. At any rate, there are some other things needed to be mentioned. Amelia, look at your midriff."
Amelia did so. "Why am I doing this?"
"Notice anything missing?" Lina asked, as she patted her own. "Because of the fire and aire golems being smooth. They smoothed out our stomachs. We have no bellybuttons. I think that since we were changed at the same time, we have the share the same subspace when we go into our rings."
Lina clenched and unclenched her fists. "When I get my hands on that void brain....."
