Since when had anyone listened to Ranma? tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li tikeli-li
Over the odd sound like little bells chiming came the sound of praying. Kasumi had her hands over her ears, her eyes tightly shut, and was praying at the top of her lungs.
Nabiki looked at that, at how Ranma looked like he was doing something similar, and wondered what the heck was...
Ryoga started screaming as lots of invisible something began eating him alive.
Nabiki stared as Ryoga fell down, blood spurting onto barely glimpsed shapes, making them more visible as the chiming increased in volume and she felt as if something was looking
...back at her.
She caught the most glancing glimpse of it then and was aware of her own screaming. As it came closer, coming towards her. Where it would feast on soul and flesh and she would be unmade. She saw Akane go down, one arm thrown up to defend herself.
And then the darkness and the presence were gone as if a switch had been thrown.
And then everything went dark as she fainted.

Nabiki didn't want to wake up. Didn't want to see what was left. Didn't want to know. Those voices wouldn't go away though.
"...applied a tourniquet..."
"...glad to see you for once..."

Nabiki's eyes snapped open and she began to scream again as she remembered.
Slap!
Nabiki slowly focussed on Kasumi, who was holding her hand as if she'd hurt it.
Kasumi slowly turned to Cologne. "What about the Xi Fang Gao?"
"I've used it twice already just to dull the memories enough for Miss Tendo to stop trying to claw her eyes out," replied Cologne. "Much more and she may suffer permanent damage."
"You used it on Akane five times," Ranma mentioned casually.
"If your advice, or Kasumi Tendo's example, had been followed, none of this would have been as bad as it was," said Cologne. "There are some things that mortal man should not pry to closely into."
"I've made father as comfortable as possible," said Kasumi, her voice breaking slightly.
"If he makes it, he'll be permanently scarred by that. His mental state wasn't exactly stable prior to that," said Cologne.
"What WERE those?!" Nabiki demanded.
"Things that exist between the worlds, hungering for the slivers of existence denied them, Miss Tendo," answered Cologne. "I'd advise you not to pursue it too much further - those who do invariably go mad. Fortunately, pursuing ways of warding against them and treating their victims is not so prone to such side effects."
"But what..." Nabiki glanced to the side and saw Akane, whose
