Kanure Tendo looked at her husband. "Promised to unite the schools. Yes that's a worthy goal. Though I hope your not going to push for it to happen soon, you know how our girls can get their backs up."
Sweat beaded on Souns forehead. "O-Of course not dearest. Take our time and let them work it out themselves. Shouldn't we let the girls know so they can start thinking about who it should be?"
"No rush." Kanure replied with a smile. "I'd like to know a little more about my prospective son in law. I remember Genma from that time we met, but do you know who he ended up marrying? Probably not someone I knew."
Soun swallowed. "Um, actually she was in your class. Nodoka Masaki." Soun felt the blood drain from his face as his wife looked at him, one of her eyes twitching.
Kanura thought back to her former roommate in school, and the comments she often made about manliness. "Nodoka?! That. . . Exhibitionistic Pervert!! Your asking one of our daughters to marry someone raised by that!. . ."
"Ten year training Trip!" Soun proclaimed hastily as he stepped backward. "They haven't seen her since they were five!"
Kanure looked at Soun. "So they've grown up with almost no female contact. That's no great recommendation itself." She sighed and shook her head. "Still, you made a promise, and it's our duty honor it as best we can, right?
Soun sighed gratefully and nodded. "Yes. Should you tell the girls, or should I?"
"You talk to them, I'll cook a few items for when they arrive."
Soun knocked at the door of his eldest daughter's room. "Kasumi!" Opening it a crack he glanced in to where she was looking up from the stack of books.
"What is it father?"
"Nabiki!" Soun called a moment before opening the door of his middle daughter's room. She looked up from where star chart she was studying and asked "Yes?"
"Akane!" Soun called before opening the door to find his youngest daughter's room empty. "Well, it's not like I don't know where she is." He commented as he turned and started toward the Dojo behind the house.
In the Dojo, Akane adjusted her gi, and looked at contraption she had put together on the floor. Not terribly complicated, essentially it was a miniature see-saw, with one end widened out to help it hold the stack of bricks it currently held. Standing next to the upright arm, Akane raised her leg and shifted into a crane stance. Then her upright leg shot down, hurling the bricks into the air.
Akane waited a moment, then jumped, her hands lashing out to cleanly split first one brick then another. Moments later she looked over the rubble on the dojo floor, and frowned. "One two, three. . . Better, but not good enough yet!" With a sigh she started tossing the split bricks (Plus the three she missed) into a basket by the door.
The door opened, and Soun stepped into the Dojo, snatching a brick out of the air. "Still working on it, are you?" he asked, pride coloring his voice.
"Hey, you and Grandpa Happosei may not be up to helping me train to full intensity, but that doesn't mean I can't push myself as best I can, does it?"
"Of course not Akane! Still, you might want to clean yourself up because some important guests will be arriving soon. And there's something that I want to tell you and your sisters about them.
