"You shouldn't have been looking at me, Ranma," Nabiki said lightly. Really she was relieved, she had quite realized how light Ranma's new female body was. That could have been very bad.
"What ever," Ranma muttered, stepping away from the pool.
"In any case," Filia said, her own human form dropped out in these wilds. "You've given me a very interesting discovery here. Until now I had thought that only a few limited shapechanging magics existed. Dragons, mazoku, and werecreatures, in one case."
"What about your chimeras?" Nabiki asked. Filia waved her hand.
"That's a transformation, not a shape change," she said. "A shape change affects the body, but the soul and essence are still human. Transformation is a complete, permanent change. And I have been very careful with my business to date. Clients were carefully screened and warned, and many releases were signed. They talked to people that liked the change, people that didn't like the change. They were told about physiology changes, possible attitude shifts and new instincts. Everything. And all messed up because some woman decided to sneak her psychotic neice into my company."
"What are you doing about Mariko anyway?" Nabiki asked.
"At any moment now," Filia said. Her cell phone...errr...they thought it was a cell phone anyway...beeped. "Ahh." Filia retrieved the small, colorless crystal out of her pocket and held it out. It floated a few inches above her palm and displayed a young cat-girl's face. Filia winced.
"Mom?" the girl said tiredly. "She took the bait."
"Selene? She tagged you?" Filia gasped. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," the girl said stiffly. Ranma recognized the symptoms.
"Let me guess," Ranma said. "'Oops, I forgot the pain killer.'" The cat girl grimaced and nodded while Filia gritted her teeth angrilly, the small horns on her forehead seemed much larger than they were in truth.
"I knew what I was risking," the girl said. "And jt turned out useful, I tracked down where she was stashing everything else. All is accounted for save what she's already used."
"Just get home and into bed," Filia insisted. "I'll call your Uncle Jol, okay? He'll have a healing spell for you."
"I'm..."
"Now!" Filia snapped. Selene paused and nodded, and Filia's tone softened. "Good job, Selene. And you look cute by the way."
"Of course," Selene joked. "I designed this form. I guess I'll fit in at family reunions from now on." Filia laughed at that. "I'll see you back at home, bye."
"Bye, sweetie," Filia said blowing a kiss to her daughter before the connection closed and she turned a grim face to the Nerimans. "I'd love to see her face when she tries to use that gun. Now more than ever."
"Sorry, by the way," Ranma said. Filia waved it off.
"She's right, she'll fit in more now," Filia said. "She really did look quite human before."
"So, what is this bait?" Nabiki asked.
