Lum had never even HEARD of this particular race. And now, she wished she never had.

But it was too late.

Ataru -- or whatever it was that had been born from her Darling's spirit combining with the spirit of a wandering member of this race of allasomorphic molluskoids -- was one of them.

Even more, this being was...

• ...a female Nendo-kata descent from those who had undergone the Great Crossing Over over 90,000 years ago. One hundred percent lesbian in Terran terms, she could only mate now with another humanoid female through telekinetically-assisted parthenogenesis.
• ...a female Nendo-kata descent from those who had NOT undergone the Great Crossing Over, yet still followed the path of Unity. One hundred percent heterosexual in Terran terms, she was now interested in finding a nice BOYFRIEND!
• a male Nendo-kata descent from those who had not undergone the Great Crossing Over, yet still followed the path of Unity. Could Lum still try to forge a relationship with him or did something else happen?
• ...a Nendo-kata (regardless of gender) who somehow has deviated from Unity's path or is seen as quite unique even by his/her fellow Nendo-kata. In what way?
• ...descent from one of the "special" schools of the Great School (i.e. Lore Master/Mistress, Dreamweaver, Healer, Adjudicator, one of the Dead School).
