They both were, quite simply, the best. So it perhaps should come as no surprise that Julia was the one of the three who heard the tiny scraping above her. Her eyes narrowed for a moment.
“Excuse me,” she whispered, then leapt up, slapping the ceiling with the flat of her palm.
The effect was like a cannon shot; the grating on the air vent shot out, soon followed by three odd-looking rats. Akane’s eyes narrowed as their scents and colors hit her. “Y... You!”
In an instant, Theo was chanting; soon, all three were held within an energy bubble. Julia smiled as she took in the sight. “Hello... it’s been a long time since you last visited. So much has gone on... I don’t know where to begin.” The grin turned just a bit malicious. “What say we go back to our place and talk it over, hmmm? I’ll even invite my daughters and some of her friends over to join us!”
The terror that reflected back from their beady eyes was precisely what Julia wanted. They were at war, on two sides; if these three could be persuaded to talk, maybe - just maybe - they could keep the casualties to a minimum.
