"Mutants, you can say it, it isn't a bad word," advised the redheaded woman up in the co-pilot's seat.
"You're a martial artist," responded the boy. "What style? Shotokan karate?"
Makoto nodded, startled. Was the boy a tele-whatever. A mind reader?
"I read your body language," said the boy, leaning back. "I've trained all my life in the martial arts. Only reason I'm going along with this gig is that I can learn more at this 'Westchesty' thing."
A girl with blonde hair winked at her. "Hi! I hear you're not actually a mutant though."
"No, Makoto is a metahuman," said Doctor Jean Grey from her position. "But as she registers as mutant/nonhuman to the Sentinels, she's safer with us."
The shaking of the plane dropped off.
"We're out of the turbulance," announced the pilot unnecessarily. "Next stop, the Academy."
