It was not stupid.
At first, the temptation of reproduction with the various female entities had become paramount to it's survival. Thoughts and memories from it's host deterred it slightly.
It had no concept of 'emotional pain', yet his host viewed this as the greatest dangers to his life. Problem: All this 'emotional pain' had been focused primarily on the females within easy mating distance.
Solution after Solution had been brought to its attention, and then disregarded. At present its current plan of infecting the hostile organisms forever more termed as 'The Fiancees' seemed to have grounded itself to a halt.
Survival was it's primary purpose, to attempt to control those forces would be dangerous, and highly likely to result in permanate injury to either host or self if it were to fail.
Conclusion: It had to look beyond its current canidates for mating and repoduction. How to take action..
Problem: Fiancee One; while using her own ability against her, the symbiot and host were able to leave this hostile area at cost to its health. Cost to health when object of undiscernable mass connected with host, then more damage when Host landed from his fall.
