Of course many of Soun and Genma's ideas had turned out not to be very smart after the fact.
For example, deciding to train under Happosai, the most infamous pervert and petty thief in all of Asia.
But this particular one was of such exceptional caliber that it deserved special mention simply for its sheer Darwinism.
After all, *intentionally* arranging to have one's own youngest daughter be kidnapped in order to motivate her fiance to come save her and then marry her during the post-rescue romantic setting took a lot of guts...especially considering the very likely violent reactions of said daughter and fiance to finding out about being manipulated into said situation. But that would have been just another in a long line of ill-concieved plans if not for the other factors that had also been put into play.
Such as:
Happosai had consumed most of his bribe before making the arrangements.
Nobody remembered to warn the kidnappers which girl was Akane, or that one of the houseguests could also be a girl under certain circumstances.
Gosunkugi and Shampoo had been eavesdropping. And they'd quickly shared the info with others. Nerima's rumor mill did the rest.
There was actually another group that had to score to settle with Soun Tendo about an old bar bill that decided to kidnap one of his daughters to hold as collateral at the same time.
And did I mention the big breasted ninja girls lurking in the rafters of the house?
