"No #$#@*$ weapon systems?!" Shinji said clearly and distinctly. "You're #$#(ing me! What kind of #$@!% damn #$!%&& puts together a giant robot to fight off giant monsters and forgets to put in a #$#!*% WEAPONS PLATFORM?!"
Misato paused, opened her mouth, closed it, considered. "Actually, that's a good question."
"Captain," groaned Ritsuko. "We're having enough trouble with the pilot without you adding to it."
Gendo merely scowled and shifted the ice pack he was holding to his face.
"No weapons platforms, sheesh," griped Shinji. "Bad enough you stick me out here and the damn giant robot is a plug in."
The angel came around a corner, somehow reminding Shinji of one of those Goons from an old Popeye cartoon.
"Hmmm, maybe," said Shinji as he began shifting the Eva unit around. "Hey, think you can do something about the way this goop tastes and smells? This blood stuff is gonna turn my stomach."
"Oh shut up and be a man about it," said Ritsuko over the commlink.
"More than you can handle," grumbled Shinji though not low enough that it didn't get transmitted.
"Takes after his father," said Ritsuko with a look towards Gendo.
Gendo gave a slightly painful but cocky grin in return.
"Well, mister giant monster, let's see how you handle -"
