Ranma scratched his head. Here he was standing alone in the Tendo yard, the girls having disappeared the second after he made his wish. Where could they be?
"Excuse me, please. Are you Ranma Saotome?" asked a pleasant and feminine voice behind him.
"YAAH!" Ranma jumped in fright surprise. He turned back to glare at the new arrival. Sometimes, he wondered if everybody and their dog had a way to bypass his martial artist sixth sense.
The woman had appeared out of nowhere. She looked like she was in her late teenage years, wore somewhat exotic and revealing clothes and had facial tattoos. The fact that she was floating a few inches from the ground and exsuded the same kind of aura that Kasumi possessed told Ranma she wasn't an average woman.
Seeing that she was waiting for an answer to her question he nodded dumbly.
The girl brightened, her smile melting his brain into goo "Ah, excellent! Pleased to meet you, mister Saotome. I am Com, goddess third class, limited. I am here to correct a terrible mistake. You see, you were not supposed to inherit the Great Will of the Universe"
"Ah uh..." It figured. Something like that happening to him was too good to be true. Suddenly, he began to panic "Wait a minute... What about the wishes I made? Are they going to be annuled!?" *I finally got rid of my goddamned curse. It's not FAIR!!!*
Com frowned a little "Really, mister Saotome, swearing like that isn't nice, even in thought only. Very bad for your karma" Ranma eeped and threw her a silent, pleading look.
Com sighed. The Goddess seemed to space out for a few seconds, fingering the earring on her right ear, then she gave him a reassuring smile "Do not worry, mister Saotome. For compensation for your troubles, Yggdrasil will confirm your wishes. They were fairly modest and didn't hurt anyone after all..."
Com made a quick and elaborate hand gesture. Ranma felt a short burning sensation on his wrist. When he looked, he saw that the Great Will tattoo was gone.
As she was going to leave, Ranma remembered his last wish and asked "Hey, miss Com! Do you know where my fiancees are? I wished for all this multiple engagements mess to be straightened out but..."
Com gave him another beatific smile. A wiggle of her fingers and a small box appeared in her hand. She gave it to Ranma, who didn't understand what was going on.
Ranma looked at the box who was in fact a deck of playing cards "What is it?", he demanded, wondering what was this self-proclaimed goddess' game.
"This is your playing deck, mister Saotome. Your wish turned all your fiancees and many of your female acquaintances into cards of a very popular Collectible Card Game (or CCG for short). They can't certainly marry you now. Have fun!"
Ranma certainly didn't see THAT coming. He wasn't pleased, to say the least "WHHAAAAAAAATT!?!"
"Oh, don't worry...," added Com, reading his thoughts "They're quite alive and you can still interact with them. You'll find out how soon enough. And before you ask, no, we don't do refunds on wishes, especially since you weren't supposed to have them in the first place. Bye!" Com gave him a little salute and disappeared in a star trek transporter effect.
"NO! WAIT! COME BACK!!!" Ranma tried to catch her but was too late. He cursed violently. Failing to feel better after that, he settled for a bout of sulking.
"Now what am I supposed ta do!?" Ranma asked out loud. Well, it was no use crying over spilt milk. First things first, he had to assess the damage.
So Ranma opened his deck and picked up a card at random. As Com had said, his fiancees had really been transformed into cards (or it was some deity's idea of a sick joke). He gazed at the card depicting Akane. At least, the artwork was pretty good.
Leafing through the small rules booklet, Ranma learned that this particular CCG was...
