Tigra had already left, being summoned by Onoli. Kasumi was cleaning up, with a very... satisfied smile on her face.
Nabiki, on the other hand, was working in her room. Her plans for Furry Porn were forming up quite well, and the situation in Australia just meant a larger audience, as far as she was concerned.
Somehow... neither of them had realized that Akane, who had been sent home from the hospital the day before, (read: kicked out as soon as they could do so without triggering a malpractice suit - the doctors and nurses were not very happy with her) had yet to emerge from her room.
Actually, she hadn't left since the day before.
In her room, Akane lay on her bed. She was still in hybrid form, and still mostly wrapped in bandages (mostly to keep other irritants away from her still-healing skin.)
She was also awake. And aware. But she just didn't seem to have the will to move.
For the longest time, Akane had hidden behind two things. Pride and Anger. Pride disguised the absolute lack of self-esteem (a common symptom of a third-born child, especially when family problems caused the others to ignore her more often then not) she had, while Anger was a familiar, safe emotion that kept other people away, so they couldn't see beyond her pride.
But Ryoga's revelation, both of P-chan and his desire for Akane, had changed that. She'd considered Ryoga a good friend, and P-chan was the only thing she could open up to... and then finding out the truth of the matter stripped the pride away from her. Without pride blinding her, she'd realized that her anger had done nothing but betray her. And without both of those, Akane Tendo was... nothing.
In her mind, scenes from her life were playing. This time, though, she was not seeing them with her pride, justifying any of her actions. Rather, it was the opposite extreme, she was criticizing every fault, and finding many more where none existed. All of which just fueled her depression.
It was a good thing she didn't know the Shi Shi Hokodan... she'd have probably taken out several blocks if she had.
So Akane lay in her bed... mostly forgotten by family and friends, descending deeper and deeper into a pit of despair and self-loathing.
