Ranma awoke on top of Mount Fuji and came to the obvious conclusion.
"Man, Akane is getting pretty damn good with that mallet!" Ranma of course knew that Akane would use a shinnai or anything else that came to hand, but 'mallet' was a lot easier to say than 'whatever blunt object of opportunity is at hand.'"
A few tourists walked by the boulder he was sitting on, hardly giving him a glance.
Ranma stood up, took two steps, and nearly fell on his face from the sudden dizzy spell. "Damn. What did she do to me?"
Another few minutes passed as Ranma got turned around and crawled back to his boulder.
-------------------
Nabiki held a hand up and frowned at the small tremor continuing through the limb.
Penance Gaze. An attack from an American manga but it seemed a suitable name. In between one minute and the next her life had passed before her eyes: every dirty deed and failure, every trick and lie, every sin laid bare before her. She had been judged.
"Who the hell is he to judge me?" Nabiki demanded of her empty room. "And if he has somehow become aligned with some gaijin deity..."
That pretty much stopped Nabiki. If Ranma was somehow connected with that whole mythos of that religion, then she was gonna get stomped on. Her only consolation was that she wasn't going to be alone in that regard. Not much of a consolation.
So if he wasn't - he'd somehow pulled off a scam beyond anything she'd have ever believed of him. If he was - this was dangerous beyond belief.
Nabiki tried to figure out what to do about it.
------------
Kodachi prayed.
She might have prayed before but never to this extent. Never this openly or fullheartedly.
She had seen her life, as if viewed from the outside, and had been crushed by seeing herself as others saw her.
It would take her awhile to recover from her experience. It was like being comfortable with being blind, until someone ripped the blindfold off and showed her the world of sight.
Kodachi had never had cause for self-doubt or to rely on someone else before. She prayed because it was the only thing she could think of to do.
