After a lot of planning, arguments, and a fist fight or two, the organisers finally decided on a solution to create interesting contests... they would simply set up matches between various teams in such a way to keep things interesting, and totally ignore setting up divisions or such! Heck, this would make the handing out of prizes and titles near impossible, but heck, what did THAT matter, compared to ratings? Who cared who the overall winner was, as long as the actual matches were exciting? Just match up opponents for every round based on entertainment value, and... see where it went!
... Let's see how it goes.

The basketball match was promising. Up first was Team Wild Horse, Ranma, Ryouga, Mousse, Kuumon Ryuu and Tarou. Vs Team KOF, Terry Bogard, Kyo, Iori, Ryo Sakazaki and of all people, Luck Glober. Various other members of both teams were on the bench as substitutes.
Whistle! Start!
Terry played a lot of Street Hoops, and favoured dunking. He was still pretty unprepared when Ranma easily sailed over his own jump to GRAB the ball.
"Allright!" Ranma called out on landing, "Fast Break! Tenshin Amaguri Dribble!" he called out, the ball blurring as he raced down the court. Lucky tried to steal the ball, and was perturbed to find his hand merely passing through one of the after images. "FAST!" he thought to himself. On the sides, the Shizuru considered that his Basketball experience didn't make Lucky much less useless than he had been in KOF...
"2 points! Nice lay up!" Ukyo cheered.
"That jerk's not using any teamwork at all!" Akane complained... but with a smile on her face.
Team Nerima went back on defence as Ryo picked up the ball, and did a pass Ko O Ken style to Iori, their fastest team member.
"Doshta?" taunted Iori as he slid along low to the ground past Tarou, leaving him unable to even react to his dash.
"Ryouga, stop him!" Ryouga sprinted to his set guarding position as team center... well, he tried to, anyhow. He actually ended up on the 3 point line... for the other team.
"DUNK! Score is tied for both teams!"
"Ryouga you idiot! Work with us!" called out Mousse as he scooped up the ball and passed it to Ryuu.
Except it wasn't Ryuu, it was Terry. Who immediately took the shot, for 3-points, nothing but net.
"And you, wear your glasses!" the rest of the team cursed Mousse.
"Hey, wait a minute! Why'd they get 3 points for that shot? ... I see. So, all I have to do is shoot from behind that line and it's 3 points instead? How hard could that be?" Ranma said.
Boink! Well... maybe not. Not THAT easy putting the ball in the basket from there, huh? (sorta like Ranma and skating, I guess...)
"Rebound! Heh, I got it! Now... again! 3 point shoot!" Ranma hurled the ball again.
Boink!
"And again! Ranma Saotome never admits defeat!"
Boink!
"Once more, I don't give uuuaaaargh!" Ranma grunted as Ryouga jumped on his head to snag the ball, for a double handed overhead slam dunk.
"Idiot."
