Emperor Ranma of Mongo: Why are they still in tubes? (LIME) [Episode 35399]

by Greyman

"Alert: Seraglio units are ready for revival," Ted noticed.  "Observation: subjects entered processing prior to subject Saturn.  Query: Reason for delay in procedure?"

"Oh, yes, our Mongonian Princesses should have been released before the aliens," Mille commented, "but there was a slight change of plan.  Originally I had intended to simply reinforce their loyalty to the Emperor.  Then I had been given carte blanche to train and condition them, by His command, so I added combat and sexual training modules to the VR programme."  Of course, being Mongonian warrior princesses, they hadn't needed that much combat training, so Mille had focussed mainly on the other, lots.  "And finally I'd been diverted by the arrival of these faux fiancées."

"Observation: subjects designated Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have been identified as impostors attempting to infiltrate the Seraglio and assassinate designated Emperor unit."

"That's right," Mille confirmed.  "It was been fairly easy to determine in the initial stages of the program.  Their loyalty to their empress had been difficult to subvert, but not beyond my skills!"

"Alert: attempted crime 'regicide' warrants immediate termination.  Query: provide explanation of continued existence of subjects?"

"Well, it is true that they should ordinarily have been sent to the Arena of Death.  However, there are a number of complications.  First and foremost, the Emperor has started using the Arena as his personal gymnasium and several of the deadly beasts are ...well... sulking after being beaten up.  Also, given what we've witnessed of their powers, I don't think that the prisoners would have any problem with the Arena either."

"Besides which," Mille added, "It would be such a waste to simply dispose of them.  I am a great believer in making the punishment fit the crime and so, for the crime of attempted regicide, the prisoners are be 'condemned' to protect and continue the imperial line.  My conditioning techniques will turn their powers into imperial assets."  This would, coincidentally, add to her prestige, which had already grown after foiling the assassination attempt.

"Observation: their abilities appear impressive.  Annotation: four weapons do not equal an armoury.  Alert: several such teams appear to have been deployed by the enemy.  Hypothesis: more such units remain in reserve.  Assert: mass production of such weapons by cloning should be mandated.  Query: why was this procedure not implemented?"

"It was considered," Mille noted.  "However, genetically the prisoners are ordinary humans.  Simply cloning them would not reproduce their abilities.  Instead we've discovered artefacts within their cells: foreign structures which seem to mimic the function of organic mitochondria and chloroplasts, but instead of just acting as chemical power plants they enable the prisoners to open a gate to other dimensions to tap into their energies and matter."

"Statement: that is merely techno babble.  Assert: it makes no sense.  Mandate: need more data."

"Probably," Mille conceded.  "I don't think the scientist I consulted really understand what these, 'mitochlorians' as they call them, actually are.  The important thing is that they've kludged together a way to infuse them into a subject and it works."

"Statement: this unit now comprehends the nature of modifications to the axolotl tubes.  Hypothesis: Seraglio units have been so infused.  Query: request confirmation."

"That's right.  I've decided to restrict this augmentation process to soldiers whose loyalty to the Emperor is without question.  At the moment that means the Seraglio.  Time to release the first and see what she can do."
