"Yes, he was. Now he's never met any of them." The man chortled.
A cat cleared his throat. "Be that as it may. It didn't actually help his situation. The test was not of Ranma, if you recall, but of you."
The godling began to sweat. "Hey, waitaminute, don't I at least get a Labor to make up for it?"
"We gave Greylle those, and look how that turned out," the woman declared.
"Okay," said the cat. "Make it up to Ranma while fulfilling the condition of the original wish."
"Oh that's easy," said the apprentice godling named Porter. "I can do that. All I have to do is modify it so that after he hits the pole he falls in this spring. Everything will be much better. See!"

People looked up and made warding signs. Thor even crossed himself. Toltiir, Elder god of mischief, who existed before Yggdrasil, who could destroy entire galaxies and then rebuild them with little effort - had sneezed.
"Oh, wow. That felt pretty good actually, hmmm," the black cat sniffled, "I'll have to remember to do that again."
"Oh gosh, what happened to the springs?!" Porter began to panic. None of the springs looked even remotely normal.
Time restarted in Jusenkyo. Ranma splashed down.
"What spring was that?" The woman, Hebe, was actually more interested than panicked. Maybe her avatar would get some action now. "It wasn't a normal Jusenkyo spring because there currently aren't any normal Jusenkyo springs. No drowned girl, piglet, cat, duck, or other small animal. What did Ranma fall in?"
"Looks like, oh crap," said Porter. On the one hand, Ranma would live. On the other hand this was just so bizarre. "He fell in the new Spring Of Drowned:"
