It should be noted that catgirls come in all colors and some shapes but the typical anime catgirl is a bouncy nubile human female whose major visible changes are the ears and tail.
The vast majority of them are, to use the word, stacked.
Other definitions have been used, including the Catgirl Template spell used in "Third Labor".
In this case the catgirl was the fairly common variety, with minor visible changes and otherwise mainly looking like the girl type Ranma seen in other timelines.
Except that not all the changes were visible. Tendons and ligaments grew more flexible, joints shifted, internal organs altered, eyesight and brain chemistry changed.
And in Ranma something curious was taking place. The Nekoken was trying to come out, but he was already a cat, therefore there was no need for him to go into the nekoken, but there was a cat present but as it was already just him there really wasn't except there was.
Confused? Not nearly as much as Ranma.
Which ended up having longterm effects as the nekoken had to be on but couldn't be on and therefore:
Ranma's psyche healed. Now with a feline component and mannerisms and tastes, and with full access to the Nekoken.
