Ranma's plea for help flew from the pit he was in to the heavens, beyond the rainbow bridge and into the palace of Valhalla. There on his throne, Odin the All-Father, king of the norse gods and ruler of Asgard heard it. One blink of his eye sent his two ravens, Hugin and Munin, on Earth to observe the situation. It had been so long since someone called on his power with such sincerity.
What he saw through his ravens' eyes nearly sent him into a rage.
Odin was a warrior god and respected the mortal martial artists who were keeping the old fighting arts alive. They were the only ones who battled like in the old days. Not like the soldiers of the modern age, skill and bravery were nice but that didn't help much against firearms and explosives...
Odin recognized the old 'no pain, no gain' rule but this... This wasn't training. This was a fruitless torture that would kill the boy submitted to this crazy Cat Fist exercise !
The All-Father sensed a great potential within the boy and would regret seeing it wasted in a pointless death so early in his life. Somehow, this Ranma had called on his name and by the rules of interference in mortal affairs, that allowed him to help.
