A female elf with blond hair burst through the bedroom door...
"She might have a spell fragment..." suggested Victoria ominously.
Deedlit stood in the doorway before Ranma and Victoria, framed by the swirling multicolored light of the interdimensional portal behind her. It was taking all of her elf magic and concentration to keep the portal open. Hands clasped over her chest, she looked at Ranma pleadingly, silently....
"You need help and want me to go with you." stated Ranma without preamble. For the sake of the Art, she could not turn down someone in need....
Deedlit smiled slightly and nodded minutely in relief....
Ranma turned to Victoria, "I don't know if I will see you ever again....Anyway, it's been nice knowing ya'." she said, downcast.
"Same here." Victoria replied tersely, "You'd better go now."
Ranma got out of bed, walked over to the blond elf-woman, and stood next to her. "Ready when you are." she prompted....
Victoria watched the elf-woman close her eyes and saw the two fade from view. A moment later, the bedroom doorway was dark again....
"Goodbye Ranma....Be careful wherever you are...." whispered Victoria yearningly....
The phone rang on the small table next to Victoria. She answered it. "Hello?"
It was Integral. "We have an emergency. Return to HQ." she ordered crisply.
"On my way." Victoria replied, hanging up the phone. She got out of bed, got dressed, balled up Ranma's clothes into a roll and tucked it under one arm. She walked out of the bedroom and headed back to work....
