You know the scene by now, most likely:
Pools, all foreboding and inviting in one, with ancient, yet unrotted bamboo poles jutting out near each one. Hundreds of them, more than could actually fit in the tiny valley, as Jushenkyo is one of Those Places.
You know, like the Magical shops, Unseen University's Library, and the interiors of a Luggage or any TARDIS.
Yeah, Those Places.
Ranma and Genma are fighting, and while Ranma has had many a dumb idea imposed on him by Genma, they were all at least discussed first.
Genma has felt a frustration coming from Ranma all these years, but Ranma himself doesn't feel it, just adding "Maybe it's that Spirit thing...?" when Genma asked about it.
Genma shuddered in memory at the summoning, as when the spirit was merging into Ranma, he had LOOKED at the older Martial Artist.
Given Genma's nature at the time, you can imagine how close to true madness that instant of a Penance Stare got him. He hasn't truly gotten better luck in his life, but ever since, he's been a lot better in personal honor.
No, from the best the two could figure out, the spirit, still seeping into Ranma and allowing Ranma to seep into him, is simply frustrated that it's not more active in the outside world, but as years go by, that frustration is easing, so all in all, the merging is at least working out as planned.
Ukyo was not married, but she was left with explanations, and basically gave a huge batch of Okonomiyaki to Ranma as a going-away present. She was later kicked out and forced to be male as punishment for that by her father (jerk), but accepted it as Karma, embracing a very Butch lifestyle and choosing the surname Saotome, meaning to join the Clan if she ever meets Ranma and Genma again.
Ryouga was soundly defeated in that duel, but he sustained a blow to the head and still is in Denial land, hunting Ranma for everything from how lemons taste on up.
While I backstoried, Genma got knocked into the Panda Pool (just felt RIGHT to Ranma, and indeed it finished his Karmic payback, so you can guess WHY that blow felt like the one to land).
Ranma jumped down and went to help his Dad, only to be knocked WAYYYYY away when the Panda came to light, erupting out of thr pool and knocking Ranma away with a limb much bigger than he was used to offering.
The Guide (survivor that he is) just shook his head in dismay, expecting Ranma to instantly:
