"Music instruments?" Asked the wizard with a questioning look. Well, this left a few possibilities and not just the piper of hamelin or the devils violin stuff. Music was one of the most standard styles of Magic in many universes. He did wonder, would the boy be of some use as a bard? Yes, that did sound like a good thing to do, but first help him with finding something for his friends. He could always give an extra instrument to the boy, he did play violin with ridiculous skill after all.
"Well, there are a few instruments here. You probably don't want anything that needs to long to learn right?" Shinji nodded as the wizard led him around, left and right and before Shinji knew what was going on he was holding a heavy bag with at least half a dozen different instruments.
"Why did I buy all of these? Damn this guy is good." His thoughts were probably visible on his face as the wizard counted some of the money and gave him the exchange back. The instruments were surprisingly cheap, but well there was no need for a wizard to charge high prizes. And these instruments would certainly make everything around Shinji more fun, he had even added a manual for the boy so he could help the others with playing and give them advice, not that the kids would need it when it came to playing good. Though there were a few extras in the manual for the more... esoteric abilities that the boys new violin and the other instruments had. The young Ikari only wondered whom he should give the other instruments. There were a number of people that could use a bit music. Maybe Hikari or Touji, or possibly his father?
Shinji stepped out of the shop after some of the strangest minutes of his life. After a moment he decided that it still didn't top the day when he had been told to Pilot a giant mecha and started walking home.
*Scene Break*
"I am home Misato and I got the instruments, are you here?" Shinji's voice echoed through the apartment, but there was only silence. With a sigh he turned to put the music instruments aside for now and turned to cleaning the small desk in the room so he could lay them all down. After he was done, he looked at them for a moment. Each of them was certainly of very good quality and they all appeared to be good taken care of. The part of him that was fond of music for many reasons felt the desire to test that violin he had gotten right now.
Still, first he curiously opened the small book that was supposed to support the others in learning how to play music. Indeed, there was a good deal of explanation on how to best use various types of instruments, how to get a good feel of them, tips on memorizing notes and much more. He stopped looking at the book and instead turned to his own new instrument. He still loved his old violin and wouldn't just throw it away, but he did want to try it out. And well, there was nobody here anyway.
He carefully took hold of the fiddle in one hand and of the bow in the other hand before something came to his mind, what was he supposed to play?
