But now, they were pretty tired of it all and finally they had a chance to go to a higher plane to laze their days away doing things that evolved beings did. (Shuffleboard being oddly popular.)
However, they needed to find someone to take their place when they left. High and low they searched, and for a long time the search seemed fruitless. Yet, they would allow themselves to give up, and one day, they finally came across one that they thought was going to be the one to be the universe's protector.
What they needed was someone of immpeccable honor and courage. This person would be a daring soul who would go where angels feared to tread. At the same time, he (or she) would be a leader and diplomat who would be able to deal with nobility and the common person at will. That individual would pick a crew of similarly brave souls who would be proud to go forth and fight the good fight, defending those who could not fight for themselves.
