Kasumi - the somewhat oblivious domestic.
Nabiki - the money hungry manipulator.
Akane - the violent physically-inclined one.
Despite their differences, there were areas they had in common. Such as a skill born through years where their "caregiver" had no steady income.
Bargain shopping.
It was said of Kasumi that she could tell what groceries would be on sale a day before the store itself knew. That Nabiki could scam a fellow out of his last yen. That Akane could always find a bargain, particularly on clothes. It was this last that had Nabiki regularly raiding Akane's closet.
Little Akane at 10 years old was putting her full skills, her ability to look cute, and her savings to their best use getting her a new wardrobe at first - then with a "tally ho!" she and Sakura were at the Popular Outfitters camping store across the street while a befuddled (and somewhat awed) Ranma watched on.
Finally, he had to interrupt and make suggestions. Akane, it appeared, had not spent nearly the time "roughing it" that he had. Suggestions and alterations were quickly suggested regarding purchases. They were going on a boat ride, Okinawa was the first stop. The parka was not a good choice.
Ranma was strangely exhausted after putting up with the little whirlwinds of Akane in "power shopping" mode and Sakura's first shopping trip. Which is why the two left him outside while they counted out pooled remaining funds and entered a final store for some last minute (going on an adventure!) supplies.
