“Yeah, really tasty. It’s vegetarian, right?”
“Uh huh, no meat. The tofu gives the texture. I felt kind of squeamish putting any in.”
“You’ve got to make this again.”
“Can I have more?”
“Sure, there’s enough for seconds.”
“Hey Akane, did you have any of this? Ryo-chan’s first dinner is just fabulous!
“Hmmppfff.”
And so it continued around the table, everyone complimenting the girl on her cooking, “Well, I have to make do for myself when lost, so I’ve learned a few tricks,” she said, blushing and bowing her head in modesty and pleasure at the compliments.
“The table’s decorated just beautifully too, Kasumi.” Genma added.
“Oh, that’s all Ryo-chan’s work. Isn’t she talented?” Kasumi beamed with the happiness that only a mother or a highly praised mentor could.
“Ha ha yes!” Soun chimed in. “You’ll make someone the perfect wife!”
Ryo-chan blushed and unconsciously looked at Ranma. “Oh please, Mr. Tendo. I’m just trying to make my temporary home here as pleasing and comfortable as I would the home I would for the home of my husband, er myself.” She surreptitiously glanced again at Ranma, who was oblivious to everything but the plate of food before him.
Nearly everyone else could see what was going on, even if they couldn’t. Akane fumed, Kasumi smiled a benign, motherly smile, and the fathers began to wonder if Soun could adopt Ryo-chan and join the houses that way.
For her part, she rarely called herself Ryouga anymore, as it bothered her too much when in female form, and the only concession to her old life was the yellow and black bandana that would always stay on even as P-chan. This was now a bow in her new pigtail, for the one thing the Jusenkyo water had done for her that it had not for other curse recipients, it had accelerated her hair growth, so she now had hair down just below her shoulders. She decided to take Ranma’s lead in confining her hair, otherwise she’d have to re-do it each time she switched between male and female. She had no idea that this was part of the curse, the Chaos effect that turned her into the “Bishojo Bride” doing its part to ensure that she becomes the best, prettiest, most feminine wife there was.
Ryo-chan hopped up, seeing that most of the eaters were finished. It was funny, but in her female form, she didn’t have that sense of misdirection that she did when male, so she liked to stay female any time she was doing anything that required concentration or moving around. She unerringly took the plates to the kitchen, then returned with dessert. It’s incredible how quick I did that. It took what, a couple of minutes? Just a few days ago it would have been a month at least. This new form is just starting to feel right, somehow.
