"Mroww," a sound came, indicating that some of her eternal companions were awake.
"Just a minute," she muttered wearily. "I just woke up."
The cats, aside from one, didn't actually belong to her, they just showed up in her apartment from time to time. Cats liked her, that was just a fact. And she knew why, but she rather didn't like talking about it.
Six years ago, she'd woken up, not on the trail with her father as she'd thought, but rather in a cage, and she hadn't cared. She hadn't even particularly cared when they raped her the first time. Hadn't even cared when she'd found the curse locked somehow.
She'd found out later that it was the drugs. The drugs that had kept her on her back that first two years. Kept her on her back half-willingly, to keep in a supply of those drugs.
At least until she'd started to build up a resistance to the drugs. After two years, they had no effect on her at all. They kept shooting her up, but it didn't do anything anymore. That hadn't changed anything, however, she was still a slave, she just wasn't a happy one any more.
She spent the next couple of years trying to get her body back in the shape it had been in before she'd been turned into a junkie. At the same time, trying to keep up the illusion that she was still hooked.
Her plan had been to escape as soon as she was healthy enough, beyond that, she didn't know, maybe find her Pops and get a little payback.
She was almost ready in any case, she just needed a little more time to work it out. A little more than a week ago, some bum and tried to start a fight outside, and she'd put up a half-way decent fight against the man, trying to stop the fight before some of the younger girls got pulled into it. Then the cops arrived and arrested the man.
Just a little more time, as she'd told herself a million times. A little more time and she could fight her way clear. Or be gone before her "employers" knew it.
Unrecognizing of her situation, Ranma wearily rose and turned to feed the cats. And then, then she'd go downstairs and her booth, working on her back to satisfy the johns. Until she'd had a little more time.
Her beautiful blue eyes shifted silently into cat's eyes for a brief second as she turned about, and then she left the room.
