[Episode 40365] [Episode 40365]'I love you.' Ranma wanted to say, to yell so that everyone would know, especially Brittany. But when he tried to say it, put in words what he had felt for so long and yearned to tell her so desperately......nothing happened. He choked, the suite did nothing to impair his voice, but he still couldn't say it.
And there Brittany stood in that relaxed pose, waiting for him to say whatever was on his mind with that friendly expression on her face that she almost always had when talking to him.
And thats what stopped him cold. For a moment he imagined a knife with a twisted blade being driven into his heart.
Brittany thought of him as a friend, someone to talk to and trust with her feelings. Someone who would never betray her trust and be there when she needed help. She trusted him like he were part of her family.
That little realization twisted the knife deeper into his heart as he thought about the fiance's back in Nerima and the problems he had with them. Because of that mess he would never be able to marry any girl or even have a relationship without destroying the honor of the fiance's. Whether it was a stolen Dowry, a family promise and or the laws of their tribe each of the girls had a valid claim on him whether he wanted them to or not. And here he was, like some selfish creep, about to lay a similiar problem on Brittany's shoulders. It would never get as bad with Brittany as it did with the girls, but the realization that if she outright rejected him or Strype would shatter their hearts would tear Brittany to peices.
And she wouldn't take the easy way and reject him cause she valued him as a friend and wouldn't want to hurt him. In the end that decision would just hurt them all. It would be similiar to him and Ukyou. Because he saw Ukyou as a friend, while Ukyou saw him as a boyfriend/husband, he didn't want to hurt her feelings but because he couldn't let her go it just hurt them both.
For a moment he thought of Ukyou with that desperate look on her face and imagined himself with that same look directed at Brittany. The idea itself sent a shiver of cold dread and revulsion through his person so strong that he knew what he had to do. Brittany should be happy with someone like Strype who was similiar to her own kind instead of miserable with a freak like himself.
"Ranma?" Brittany looked both impatient and worried as she tapped one foot against the hardwood floor.
She always looked so cute doing that, the knife in his heart twisted itself a little bit deeper. Scratching his head despite the Guyver armor Ranma chuckled a little bit. "Sorry about that."
"It's alright, what were you going to tell me?"
"Uh.....actually I had a question."
"Well what is it?"
"Can I eat with this on?" Ranma pointed to the part of the Guyver armor covering his head.
Brittany face faulted.
Ranma smiled to himself a little sadly. He'd never meet another girl like Brittany but he didn't care. All that really mattered now was her happiness and if he had to tear his heart appart being her friend to make sure she was happy then he would damn well do it!
Suddenly the door opened and Julia walked in. Upon Seeing Ranma-Guyver leaning over Brittany and thinking it an attack she started to attack Ranma-guyver.
