"There is not much, sir," Debra said. "In ancient times, the transformation could be stopped or prevented with the proper precautions, but once it sets in there is no cure yet discovered. As for the precautions themselves, the preventive measures all involve plants that went extinct roughly two thousand years ago. And this new form of lycanthropy is altered...it occurs too fast to stop any changes with the means at my disposal, and the bond to the creator is much stronger than before."
"So the only measure at this point is containment for now," Agent M said. He frowned and folded his hands together.
"If I may, sir," Debra said. "I should note that our normal methods of secrecy may not afford the same benefits in a time of war."
"I have to agree," he said reluctantly. "Well, then, it's time to go a little more public than we have been. Contact Agent Gia, if for no other reason than he probably is in a good position to give us information on how this started. Any word on the situation in New York?"
"Mostly converted," Debra said sadly. "With a few scattered pockets of resistance. Miss Carter has some contact with the outside and has collected a resistance group. Werewolves and wererats mostly, with a few were-bigcats other than herself. They're easy to spot in a city of werecats, however, and are vastly outnumbered. It is only a matter of time before they're caught or killed. Preferably the latter, as it seems our enemies have ways of controling other lycanthropes even without a natural bond."
"Hmm," M said. "I thought the lines of communication to New York had been cut, how is she communicating."
"If I were forced to guess," Debra said. "I'd say Miss Diggers has supplied her with some technology. I suppose we should try to coordinate actions with her."
"Yes," M said. "Let's hope we can get control of this before some flicks a switch."
