Ruri frowned at him. "You said that already."
"I did?"
"Yes, you did."
"Oh yeah! I forgot."
"Just great," muttered the pale girl, My captain is an idiot."
"Huh? Did you say something?"
"It's not important."
"If you say so."
"Come along," she told him, and turned to walk away.
"Where are we goin'?"he asked as he hurried after her.
"To get you ready for your mission."
"How're we gonna do that?"
"With this," she told him as she stopped in front of a free standing control panel.
"We're gonna press buttons."
"Something like that."
"And this is supposedta help... how?"
"It activates and controls that."
The pigtailed boy looked to where she was pointing, and blinked. It looks like a door without a wall."
"Now watch."
"Okay, now it looks like a doorway with a glowing... something in it."
"Do I have to explain everything?"
"Umm... yeah..."
Sighing, Ruri looked towards him. "This is a matter transportation device. It can take any item from anywhere in the universe and send it someplace else."
"Hey, can it send me home?"
"Yes."
"That's great!"
"For all of about three minutes, before the forces of evil and all that realize that the new protector of the universe is on that planet and unarmed."
"So, I'll just fight 'em off."
"Before or after they vaporize your world?"
"Oh..."
"Exactly."
"So, why bother with it in the first place?"
"Simple, we need it to get the crew of your ship."
"My crew."
"Yes, them."
"But I don't know how I should do something like that. Why can't you do that?"
"It's your choice, remember. Besides, I'm the computer, remember? I can't do it by myself, so you have to do it."
"I have to?"
"Yes, you do."
"If I have ta..."
"Which you do."
"I guess, that we'd need someone smart. Real smart. Smart enough ta fix the ship and stuff. And a doctor or something ta fix us up cause all that fightin's gonna hurt a lot. Then there's gotta be someone ta figure out those science thingies. And someone's gotta fly the thing. Oh, and someone that can fight would be good too. To keep the bad guys off the ship when I gotta sleep or somethin'."
