[Episode 41342] [Episode 41342] The trouble really began when Ranma was all of eleven years old. He and Genma had been travelling through Kyoto for some time, and Genma had noticed that Ranma seemed to be developing a great interest in girls.
For Genma, this was unthinkable. The boy was five years away from marriagable age, he couldn't be interested in girls until then! It would spoil Soun and Genma's "Operation: Retire Rich!" Therefore, with all due speed, he consumed his meal at the restaurant and dragged his worthless son into the woods for some heavy-duty training. Incidentally incurring the wrath of the Rivalsan Ninja Corporation for defrauding their Ninjaburger outlet.
Leaving the city, however, would prove to be Genma's biggest mistake.
Ranma gazed intently at the two females. One of them was fully mature---beautiful, clever, powerful and skilled. She carved through her opponents as though they were made of paper. Her strength would be an excellent trait to pass on...
The younger one was just that, young. A year or so behind him, not yet mature enough to bear offspring. She'd fled, rightly knowing that she was unable to equal the raw power of the turtle demons. Yet, within her lay the potential to match---perhaps even surpass---her sibling. Such potential, when combined with her inherent tactical sense, made her as great a prize.
Ranma gazed down at the young one who crouched beside his larger form with something his human side would label "affection." The temptation to mate with the older one now was set aside in favour of waiting for the younger one to reach maturity. He marked their scents, and the "feel" of their minds, so that when the time came, he could find them both again. After all, the older female would still be relatively young by then. And the Imperative demanded that he spread his genes among as many mates as was feasible, to ensure continuity...
The alien mindset faded, and Ranma, once more fully in control, watched things closely. Wow, that lady was really GOOD! And the little girl was upset over having to hide. That was awful. Maybe he should try to avoid Pops and stick around---he might make a friend, and those sword techniques looked NEAT! If nothing else, he might learn to counter them if he came across a similar style. A rustle in the bushes alerted Ranma. His father was approaching.
