Ranma knew that his plan would take time. He knew just what kind of evil person to rob. Drug lords. But, he needed time to set it up. Much time.
He took the Nan Ban Mirror, which had repaired itself over time, and cried a tear into it. He said "Take me to where I can get the money for Kasumi Tendo's birthday by taking it from some people who really deserve to have it taken from them.", and then he vanished.

A few minutes after Ranma had vanished from the Tendo Dojo, a pigtailed young man was walking into Nerima.
'Man.' thought the young man. 'It sure took longer than I thought it would. Who would have thought the mirror would dump me there? It didn't send me where I thought it would. I didn't arrive near any drug lords. Well, I'm back now, and I have more than enough money for Kasumi's birthday.'
Ranma walked back into Nerima looking around. 'Man, this sure brings back memories.' he thought. 'According to the date and time it's only been a few minutes since I used the mirror in the Tendo House. But for me, it's been years. I wonder how they'll react to the new me? They'll sure go ballistic when they learn that I'm now married.'
He chuckled as he thought of how the mirror had taken him to some other world, and then stopped working. He had been trapped there for years. Then he had finally fell in love, and had gotten married.
He looked beside him to his wife. She was riding her horse because she was tired of walking and wanted a break. He smiled at her now. He looked at his wife named...
