“So you and the other two finally decided to split your essence as well? Planning to make avatars like me?”
The second figure shrugged and as the mists changed once again its figure becoming apparent. A slightly armored form held aloft by eight wings. “Perhaps.... with our Runes ... elsewhere, we four leaders of the Guardians need a new way to interact with filgia...”
The first figure stepped into view, revealing a darkly colored man-wolf creature.... with a abnormally sized wolf standing next to it... When it spoke the voice came from both mouths simultaneously. “Four Guardian Lords? Last I checked the others still considered me a traitor for siding with the metal demons.”
The first figure looked sheepish. “Errr.... well Raftina has forgiven you”
The wolf creatures chuckled. “She is the Guardian of love, she has always been rather eager to forgive... what of the others?”
“Well Justine is still angry and wishes you to be punished in some fashion, but then he is the guardian of Justice so it is to be expected. Still he is starting to realize why you did it. The other Guardians.... they still blame you for preventing a easy victory over the Metal Demons. They say you abandoned Filgia and its races.”
A twin snort echoed through the vast plane. “Typical... still caught up in there petty worlds. Where were THEY when Lord Blazer threatened the planet? Cowering behind their Runes no doubt, while I stood with Anastasia and Maribel against him. “
“Peace my brother.... the other guardians are still young and fail to grasp the truth of it all. Even Justine and Raftina are only now beginning to realize it.” The winged figure tried to calm the wolfs.
“Hmph.. how difficult can it be to realize that coddling the races from all threats will hurt them and us in the long run. After all if the guardians solved all of humanities where would the true desire come from? All that would be left would be petty wants and needs. The same for Hope, for why would there be hope if there is nothing to challenge and oppose the mortal races? Boomerang and Anastasia both recognized this Zephyr.”
“I know I know... that’s why I never blamed you for siding with the Metal Demons... especially since you never used anywhere near your full potential.” Zephyr chuckled. “It’s amazing how soon the other Guardians forget that we are brothers equal in power, as hope and desire intertwine. They just assumed I striped you of you might during the war. Not once did it occur to them that you were holding back, only giving enough aid to the demons so that Humanity and the Elw would face a challenge and grow strong from it. But the past is not why I asked for you aid in this manner... the rest of the Guardians are already enshrining themselves across the land in order to refuel its rebirth after the incident with the Nega Filgia. Once they finish, their awareness shall fade until they are summoned or the planet regains its full health. We four lords of the Guardians need to watch over the planet until then, will you help us Luceid?”
“I do not see why you need me, nor why you plan on shifting your faux runes into statues instead... There is more to this game then you are telling me brother.” The two Luceid’s spoke again.
Zephyr sighed. “You are as observant as always... there is another force at work... she does not think we know she exists, but I felt her... felt her as the battle against the Nega Filgia was fought. I do not know what she calls herself, but she can not act upon the physical world, this much I know. However she seems to be able to enter dreams and influence people through them.”
“And this will be a problem?”
“It already is. Crest sorcery is in decline... the profession being shamed...”
“You mean the madness?”
Zephyr nodded. “Yes the sorcerer’s madness as the humans are calling it, all caused by this entity invading their dreams and influencing them through it. It will not be long before crest sorcery is all but a distant memory... and we can do nothing about it. Our powers are still to weak to seek out and confront her. However if we were able to influence the world indirectly, we may be bale to set up counters to her schemes... and eventually find hero’s able to defeat her. “
“Then why not summon back your main Rune’s? They are much stronger than the faux ones on Filgia now. I still have mine after all.” The wolf form pulsed briefly by itself fading to a small rune stone before returning to its original form next to the wolf man.
Zephyr sighed again. “It is not that simple. Our three rune stones are on the same world true... but that world as well is threatened by darkness. A darkness at least as strong. The world... and my wielder are needed there still.”
“Your wielder? You mean the Holmocross is still alive? What of the others?”
“Justine and Raftina have not deigned to tell me whether their wielders are alive and well on the planet and I did not want to intrude. But as for me... Yes... Roughknight is alive and quite well... see for yourself.” Zephyr gestured and both of Luceid’s bodies turned... spreading his senses across the expanse. Luceid smile.
“SO he is, so he is... Quite a remarkable fellow, a artificial life form... yet strong enough to hope and desire a better future. A pity you got to him first before Boomerang’s death Zephyr, otherwise I might have snatched him up as my own champion. As it stands I think I shall..... Hmm... What’s this... now that is interesting. “
Zephyr paused curious as he noted Luceid focusing on something else on the planet. “What is it?”
“One who has the blood of Filgaia flowing through her veins... yet born on this planet. How fascinating... her desire is strong though divided between multiple tasks.... You say darkness threatens this planet?”
Zephyr smiled. “Yes... A powerful darkness, one which will require our Runes there... that is why we must split our essence into the Runes and the Statues.”
Luceid nodded slowly. “ I see... very well I agree..... I will allow my other self to be linked to a statue in order to monitor things here on Filgaia... as for my other half.... Well lets just see if I can’t find myself a new companion...”
With that the two forms of Luceid flashed. The wolf man being replaced by a statue, while the wolf flashed back to the rune stone again. The two icons hovered for a second before two portals opened, one to Earth, the other to Filgaia. The statue floated through the Filgaian portal, while the rune stone shot through the portal to earth.
Zephry floated there for a minute himself. “Hmm.. This might be interesting after all. Perhaps I should tell Roughknight.... no... it will be more fun to surprise him... heh...”
