"Kodachi Hecate," Professor McGonnagal called. Kodachi wondered briefly how they knew she'd decided to change her name, but shrugged it off. The room was silent as she stepped forward.
Many people knew that this was the return of an ancient house of wizardy, and wondered at the age they were living in with such people as Harry Potter, Dumbledore, and now a descendant of Hecate.
Kodachi calmly stepped forward and sat on the stool, allowing the head teacher to place that...hat upon her head.
"Well, what have we here?" the hat asked. "A keen mind, indeed, and a long streak of treachery. A very audacious and supreme pride, with a strong desire for security. It would almost be an easy sort but for your hatred of bullies and firm sense of honor, hmmm...what to do with you. This has not been a problem since that Potter chap."
Kodachi thought for a moment, the indication was that her ancestors had favored house Slytherin. She glanced toward that table and almost sneered. Such a pathetic and greasy lot of individuals they were. They needed much shaping up.
"If that is what you indeed think," the sorting hat said to her. "Well then." And it shouted aloud, ceasing to speak in Kodachi's mind. "Slytherin!"
There was scattered clapping from around the room and thunderous applause from the Slytherin house as she stood up and walked that way.
"Ahh," Ron said. "And I thought she'd turn out to be a nice girl."
"You don't know much about that line, do you?" Hermione said. "All Hecate witches and wizards have been Slytherin and Ravenclaw, mostly Slytherin."
"She didn't seem like the normal bullies in Slytherin," Harry said.
Over at the Slytherin table, Draco Malfoy was congratulating the new addition to their house.
"Well, now we have a celebrity to match Potter," he boasted. "Now we'll show those..." He stopped as Kodachi turned to face him with an expression that seemed more or less disgusted.
"I do not remember inviting you to speak with me," Kodachi said coldly. Draco fumed and the table turned silent.
"Listen girl, I'm..." Draco snapped.
"A petulant child," Kodachi said. "With no concept of nobility or honor."
She shook her head and sat down, not deigning to speak any longer. She saw Draco fall back and speak to his two over-sized companions. She shook her head, if they tired anything, they'd find her something of a surprise.
