Akane adjusted her glasses and wondered whatever had happened here.
She was Akane Tendo, juku student and one of the top ten exam aces in Japan (she considered "Mercury" - the usual #1 on those lists, to be her personal rival).
Slipping into her usual lab coat (it always felt more comfortable with it in place) and pondering things, she went over recent events.
She oddly could remember being some disagreeable thug, but she could also clearly remember a more intellectually inclined past. The thug version of her had followed the martial arts path of her family, so boorish and uncivilized. Hardly any intellectual stimulation at all. Whereas she was firmly set on the path of her chosen career - that of:
