Michael Knight of the Foundation for Law And Government was in Japan tracking a dangeorus international criminal. The Japanese government had allwoed the Foundation to operate in Japan on the condition they give detailed daily reports to a certain governmental official. This was a bit of a pain, but a necessary condition. Michael was accompanied by his constant partner, KITT, and his new trainee, Xero Prime. A few weeks ago Michael had begun to feel his age catching up with him and began to consider returement. At the insistance of Bonnie Barstow, RC3, and Russ Maddock(Devon's replacement after he retired, thoguh Devon still plays a minor role in Foundation operations), he had chosen to train a new driver for KITT before retiring. Xero Prime was a brash young man of 18 years. Michael had met him on a mission to solve a murder. Xero had his own run-ins with the law, being a street racer, but he also had a heart of gold. Michael saw in him a great man with the proper guidance. Thoguh Maddock hadn't been to keen on the idea, he had agreed to give Xero some time.
However, right now they hit a snag. While their need to report on their activities daily was a pain, the fact that this criminal was a master of escape was even more frustrating. Again, they had just lost track of him.
"We're getting nowhere fast. We need a new strategy." Xero commented.
"Tyler Durden isn't known for being easy to find." Michael replied, "We were lucky to get the tip he'd gone to Japan."
"I'm still a little confused by this guy, though. What kind of guy goes from a regular insurance inspector to a psychopath?"
"No one really knows for sure." KITT replied, "According to the files, his friend says one day he formed some club dedicated to fighting and it grew into some terrorist group. He's now wanted for blowing up several banks."
"A lot of people lost a lot of money in that." Michael commented.
"Michael, I'm picking up some strange transmissions. It seems that someone is broadcasting on our private carrier wave."
"Wait a minute, that's not supposed to be possible."
"It may just be a problem with calibration."
"That's what worries me... That's not supposed to be possible, either. Try to home in on the source."
At this point they came to a stopping point. "We're very close. It should pass us within seconds."
Meanwhile...
"I wouldn't believe this if I wasn't experiencing it myself. You're amazing, KARR."
"Thank you. And these are only a fraction of my abilities. I have far more, but what I have shown you the most commonly useful things."
At this point the two vehicles are in the same general area and within sight of each other. Michael looked off to the side and saw an unmistakable sight of a Trans Am identical to his own. A signal on FLAG's carrier wave very near + identical car = only one thing.
And then the car passed.
"Michael!"
"Gotcha pal, let's go!" And with that,Michael floored the gas in pursuit of the passing vehicle.
"Michael, that can't be KARR! We destroyed KARR 20 years ago!!!"
"Then WHAT is that?!"
"But I saw him explode! YOU saw him explode!"
Xero, not knowing what was going on, simply held on and absorbed the ride.
"Get me a visual on the license plate." As KITT zoomed in, the picture confirmed their worst fears, "So much for wishful thinking.
As KITT pursued KARR, they had not gone unnoticed. In fact, KARR had gone up to a disturbingly fast speed and NAbiki was not comfortable with it. "Umm... KARR, you can slow down, y'know."
"No, I cannot. We are being followed."
Looking out behind, Nabiki just noticed the car, identical to the one she was currently riding, in hot pursuit. "Not good."
Xero spoke up, "Michael, question."
"Not now."
"I'll be better able to assist you here if I knew a few things about this!!!"
"Explanations later!"
At this point they were entering a crowed intersection and the cross traffic had the green light.
"KARR, STOP!!!"
"Press Turbo Boost."
Not intending to question the car's knowledge, NAbiki pressed the Turbo Boost button and was quickly shoved into her seat as the car was propelled over the intersection. The shock from this caused many to stop or swerve and resulted in a few fender-benders. And KITT was quickly approaching.
"Are ywe clear to Turbo?!"
"The risk factor is too high!"
On that warning, Michael hit the brakes and made a quick stop.
And it was then that the cop who had been following unnoticed by bother parties arrived. Not asking questions, the occupants of KITT her were quickly arrested. Needless to say, Xero was unhappy with this and voiced his annoyance in perfect Japanese.
Meanwhile as NAbiki and KARR sped away, Nabiki was just beginning to relax as KARR finally slowed down. "Did we lose them?"
"It appears so."
"Good. Okay, we're heading back to my hometown. I know a couple of places for you to wait at while I think of how to handle this."
"Handle what?"
"Whoever that was is going to be after us again. I need to think of a way to make you unrecognizable to them so as to throw them off. Hopefully the distance we'll have to cover will help keep them away for a while, anyway."
"I see."
{I can't tell it I'm not licensed to drive, yet...}
