Dual Senshi: The X-Soldiers [Episode 44325]

by Jamil Nate

Nine nearly identical copies (except for some differing hairstyles and better 'talent') of the nine sailor senshi had appeared, thanks to the Great Will of the Universe. However, due to a secret love of Ranma for american comics, X-Men in particular, the new senshi (who were also Ranma's fiancees) were in fact (drumroll)... the X-Soldiers ! Mutant girls fighting for love and justice in tight leather/spandex suits !

History was altered to digest the changes. So why was Ranma Saotome engaged to nine sailor senshi look-alike mutants ? Easy, it was all Ranma's fault (with involontary help from Mr. Sinister).

It all started when Nathaniel Essex AKA Mister Sinister, recurrent foe of the X-Men and eugenist extraordinaire, found out that Ranma Saotome was a mutant. The young martial artist was born with the capacity to detect other homo superiors. While it may sound unimpressive at first, it made him a valuable asset for all the people hunting/searching for mutants who didn't have a Cerebro handy.

Sinister went to secure Ranma in person, just before he and his father got to Jusenkyo (explaining why he wasn't cursed in the new history). While Ranma and Genma were powerful martial artists able to fight most superhumans on equal footing, their mental defenses were rather pathetic. It wasn't long before Genma fled, leaving his son behind to become Sinister's mental slave.

Sinister got a nasty surprise when he found out that ranma's talent at detecting mutants was limited by his own senses. He managed to circumvent this little hurdle by freeing the cat part of Ranma's mind but how a human could mimic a cat's enhanced perceptions because of a psychological problem , he'll never know. Oh well, An animal mind was easier to control anyway.

After having tested Ranma by ordering him to bring him the first mutant he could find (which led him to the amazon village where he kidnapped a young boy and thrashed Shampoo and a few others when she tried to stop him), they returned to one of his secret laboratories in America.

Sinister learned too late that you never let a playful kitty without surveillance in a genetics laboratory. While Ranma was jumping around, samples were mixed up and the resulting eggs sent into fast-growing cloning tanks.

The whole Deathbusters crisis had intrigued Sinister who had managed to get samples of all the sailor senshi without their knowledge. They had been battling mystical enemies so long that purely scientific methods and devices went by unnoticed. Hearing the senshi talk about their 'future' and how they'll live for centuries had convinced him to get their DNA for analysis.

The clones of the sailor senshi didn't inherit their progenitors' magic but got mutant powers instead, thanks to the other DNA samples thrown into the mix by Neko-Ranma. They had escaped, Ranma in tow, and had been found by the X-Men.

The last year was spent in training at professor Xavier's school. Only recently did the team return to Japan where they went directly to meet Ranma's mother. Upon seeing her son escorted by NINE lovely young ladies who were obviously vying for his attentions, she pulled the victory fans out and did her 'My son is so manly' dance.

The X-Soldiers were composed of :

Serena Moon, codename Silver Wolf, who had inherited the quasi-lycanthropy of Wolfsbane (Sailor Moon).
Amy Anderson, codename Frost, imbued with the power of Iceman (Sailor Mercury).
Raye Hino, codename Phoenix, the group's telepath whose powers were on par with Jean Grey's (Sailor Mars).
Lyta Storm, codename Tempest, who had the same ability to control the weather as Storm (Sailor Jupiter).
Mina Lovejoy, codename Glitter, born with Dazzler's power over light (Sailor Venus).
Hotaru Wilson, codename Black Hole, who would use the extradimensional energy known as the Darkforce like Darkstar (Sailor Saturn).
Amara Lords, codename Twister, who inherited Whirlwind's mutation (Sailor Uranus).
Michelle Chambers, codename Aqua, her control over water and moisture came from the Water Wizard's genes (Sailor Neptune).
Trista King, codename Timeout, who seemed to have the same time powers as Flashback but more diversified in its applications (Sailor Pluto).

Ranma was now part of a group of mutant heroes defending Xavier's dream in Japan. Crazy martial artists still came after him once in a while but mutant menaces and supervillains now took most of his time. That and trying to keep his virtue intact.
