Dark Mars/10 Rings: Meanwhile... [Episode 4487]

by Jryu

Wiseman was ancient. He was powerful. He was patient. He was at the end of his rope.

"WHERE DID THAT BOY GET ME NOW?!"

Really, he thought, this situation is becoming intolerable. Every time he let Ryoga have control for a little while, he ended up in a vastly different location. If he didn't need the boy's soul to get the rings, he would have destroyed it utterly out of sheer frustration long ago. Now they had somehow ended up in an old shrine of some sort.

Wiseman whirled at the mental voice. What he had first thought of as some sort of statue or armor, was revealed to be in some way alive. Taking a look around him again, Wiseman realized he wasn't in a shrine - he was in a crypt. And the 'statue' was what had been sealed in. "So, what are you, frozen form, and what do you wish of me?"

Wiseman considered this. With the loss of Mars, he needed all the assistance he could get if he wished to come out on top, and this spirit had some adequate power. It might be worth it... "And you are?"

Ukyo looked over the lands of the shrine. The world seemed so much different when one watched it from the skies. Merging with her past life had given Ukyo a new look on life. She scoffed at the idea of revenge now... she could see for the first time that her father, ashamed at having been taken by such an obvious con-man as Genma, had guilt-tripped her into taking all the blame. How could a man do that to his daughter? He wants revenge on that petty thief and his son, he can damn well get it himself!

Besides, she had better things to do. Like trying to track down those other dark genies Fiore mentioned.

Ukyo spotted Katsuhito training his grandson Tenchi in their family sword forms. And Ukyo realized another better thing to do with her time. Tenchi was AWFULLY cute, after all.

Now if only that blasted fairy princess hadn't shown up...

"So, Okoyama, huh? Haven't been there..." Ryu Kumon said. While only twelve, Ryu was probably more dangerous than most martial artists three times his age. Such was the power of the Yamasenken.

"I think so. I'm a warrior by nature, master. I don't have the skill in sensing things that some of my fellows possess." Genie Warrior Jupiter replied.

Ryu looked over his Genie companion. Since he found her ring, he had put aside his quest for the Umisenken to help her out. Of course, it didn't hurt that Jupiter was well developed for her young age, and it was hard for him not to take advantage of that.

He didn't QUITE realize that she wouldn't have minded - after all, Ryu was also cute, and he reminded her of her first master...

Together they took of, to meet their destinies.

'Soul of Fire.' Personally, Mars - or rather, Rei Hino - couldn't think of a better name for herself now that she was mortal. She detested that that brat and his blasted cards - CARDS of all things! Not even full spirit powers but CARDS! - had stolen his genies from him.

Well, no matter. She had always been one of the more active Genie Warriors, and knew intimately the locations of many spirits and objects that would give her the power to take back her property, and more.

Such as the tomb she now visited.

"Oh, how the mighty have fallen, eh, Kagato?" she asked the frozen figure. "At one time, you had been the most powerful sorcerer alive. You had bound to your service thousands of spirits and beings, including the child of a goddess! And yet, here you sit, trapped in your decaying shell. I guess we hit you good, didn't we?" Rei took a moment to reminisce. She remembered it well. She, Jupiter, two lesser genies called Kiyone and Mihoshi, and a host of mortal heroes had stormed Kagato's lair and brought the sorcerer low. "You can't heal yourself, and you can't pass on. Trapped forever in a pile of bones. Ha!"

She considered the corpse for a few minutes. "Well, since your spirit can't use all that power, I think I'll put it to better use, as my own!"

While no longer possessing the powers of a genie warrior, Rei had a lot of in depth knowledge of magic practices and the occult. It didn't prove difficult at all to strip the power away from Kagato's remains.

Rei smiled darkly as her hand lit up with energy. It wasn't as much as she needed, but it was a good start. And she knew of dozens of other such tombs, seals, and crypts all across the world.

By the time anyone else knew what was going on, she'd have taken power or bound all of them. And then, not even Moon, or Saturn, or Pluto, or even the Other could stand against her!

Leaving the withered corpse and spirit behind, Rei Hino left Kagato's tomb, laughing all the way.
