The man who was obviously the leader of the agency team of five stepped forward. “Doctor Baker, that is not of your concern. Give us the hybrid and go back to your lab and do what ever...”
She scowled. “The Agency is tasked with the elimination of Sil and her progeny only. You do not have authorization to create hybrids.”
The Agency leader snarled. “We are tasked with the elimination of the alien threat. We do what we have to. You’re the one over stepping your bounds.”
Press sighed. “Bureaucracy. The lines get so muddled you don’t know where your limits are.”
“Press, this is not the time for observational wit.” Rally literally growled, a feral rumble emanating from her throat.
Baker and the Leader both looked at Rally, who was all but forcing herself down her instinct to switch to her battle-form and run. She had to protect herself. She had to protect her child. However, she couldn’t abandon Press and Laura, and she know that her chances without them were reduced.
Jubilee! she exclaimed over the link.
What’s the problem?
There are people trying to kill me!
Shit! Okay, I’ll be right there with help! Try and delay them!
Easier said then done… here goes.
Rally smiled widely. “Can’t we talk about this?”
“No.”
Rally sighed. “Is there any way we can settle this without violence.”
“You can come with us.”
Rally shook head. “I think not... Is there any possible, peaceful solution that doesn’t involve my death?”
“In all honesty, not really… We don’t wish to make a scene.”
Rally smiled widely and pulled both her compatriots backwards. “Guess there is only one way out of this.”
“Rally, what are you thinking?” asked Laura.
Rally kicked a suitcase at the leader. “Lets get out of here!” Without another word she took off.
Press and Laura both took off after her.
“Where are we going?” exclaimed Laura.
Rally smiled. “Jubilee and some friends are on their way. We just need to keep these idiots distracted. I don’t think they’ll be willing to use deadly force in a place this crowded…”
Rally pronouncement was interrupted by the sound of gunfire.
“So much for that idea!” exclaimed Rally.
“What now?” asked Laura.
“We just have to keep alive until the X-men get here!”
