Ranma landed with a violent BOOM! that raised a cloud of dust and he was grateful for the cover. He quickly rushed over to Kurumi and quickly, but carefully, withdrew the post from her torso. Surprised and grateful there wear no punctures in Kurumi’s torso, he took the beam and threw it thought the cloud where he thought Saki was. Satisfied that he had gained a breather, Ranma turned his attention to Kurumi. He carefully pulled her from the wall, and carefully set her against the wall sitting down. He squatted next to her, and then spoke to her in a low tone.
“Kurumi, speak to me. You’re okay, aren’t ya?”
Kurumi slowly opened her eyes.
“Master?” She whispered, unable to believe her eyes. She reached out and took hold of a hand. Ranma grasped it gently
“Yeah, its me. Look, I don’t know what goin’ on, but you’re gonna be alright. I ain’t gonna let her hurt you, I swear!” .
”No master, you can’t! She’ll kill you!
Ranma shook his head. “Ain’t gonna happen. Besides, what kinda of master would I be if I left ya? What ever happens, don‘t butt in, okay? I‘ll be right back”
Kurumi wanted to argue the matter, but she nodded reluctantly. Ranma and Kurumi parted hands. Kurumi settled down with a look of fear and concern on her face. Not for her sake, but for her master who was placing himself in danger for her. Ranma stood up and walked towards Saki a few paces and waited for the cloud to disperse.
Ranma knew he couldn’t have picked a worse set of circumstances for his first fight in two weeks. Just his luck that his opponent looked to be as fast as Shampoo, as strong as Ryouga and probably as thick-headed and determined as the rest of the Nerima Wrecking Crew combined. What really stinks is that he can’t work this like his normal battles where he can run away if he had too. He had to protect Kurumi. He mentally shrugged. He’ll have to watch for and make his own openings. It is the name of the school after all: Anything Goes.
When the dust cleared, Ranma was standing in a neutral stance. He had his game face on, his smirk.
“Look girl, if ya want Kurumi, yer gonna have at go thru me. And that ain’t gonna happen!”
The spectators gasped. Ranma was willingly inviting Saki to attack him. Kamahito’s eyes goggled, Dr. Ayanokoji features took on a cast of grief, Nakahito looked on the scene with horror and Kurumi had tears in her eyes as she watched her master sacrifice his life for her.
“My name is Saki. I will destroy her as I will destroy YOU!” Saki cried out the last word as she launched herself into the attack. Her left hand was extended into a knife position, her right chambered back. Ranma assumed a classic kempo defense stance.
Saki lashed out to Ranma’s temples with her right, a knife thrust that would have opened Ranma’s skull like an eggshell, if it had connected. Ranma stepped around and to the side in a classic circular dodge letting Saki fly past him.
"Feh…you missed."
Ranma’s body moved as if he were readying a powerful kick and possibly a low punch. Saki quickly reacted, preparing to black the incoming blows. It was a feint. Instead Ranma punched high.
The force of what was apparently a single blow sent Saki flying across the courtyard and into the wall, cratering it. She slowly wobbled to her feet, her features showing surprise and shock at what happened. As she attempted to walk forward. As she stumbled, back towards Ranma, her eyes slowly lost their reddish glow and she slowly crumpled to the ground.
“Wow! Ranma defeated her with a single punch,” exclaimed Nakahito, his voice full of awe.
“No,” stated Kurumi, in a hushed tone full of surprise. “Master didn’t hit Saki one time. Master hit Saki five hundred times!”
