With the customary whoosh she stepped into the mess hall and gave a small smile to Neelix who quickly aproached her.
"What can I get for you Ranma?"
"Whatever you've got handy Neelix, just make it large. I've been training with B’Elanna again and I need the calories."
"Again?" Neelix laughingly replied, "Don't you two ever get tired of fighting? Take a seat and I'll bring something over for you."
"Hey it helps me build an appetite for your creations." Smiling, Ranma headed over to a table and sat, waiting for Neelix. Thanking him when he arrived with a large dish stacked with high energy foods, she started eating and thought back on the events of the past month.
Passing through a star system, Voyager had detected a M-class planet in orbit around an old G-type star. On closer aproach, it became apparent that a great war had been waged over its surface in the past. Craters tens of kilometers in size were scattered across the planet, many marking places where it was obvious a city had once stood. Between the cities, piles of twisted and tangled metal marked the resting places of what had been war-machines, the rusted remains of tanks and other vehicles scattered like playthings.
Voyager spent a day in orbit scanning the planet for traces of any survivors of this war, but found none. It became obvious that whatever race had once inhabited this world had wiped themselves out in an orgy of destruction.
Finally an energy signature was detected in what appeared to have been a wilderness far from any of the cities. Scans indicated a probable underground complex of some size. The captain ordered an away team assembled to transport down to the planet and investigate the complex. Considering the state of the rest of the planet, several members of security were detailed to the away team including Ranma.
Transporting down, the team arrived in what appeared to be the entryway, with multiple tunnels branching off. Commander Chakotay split the away team into groups and they started to explore the complex, and thats when things started to get interesting.
