Restart - Rei: Rei of hope? [Episode 47561]

by Kestral

Rei Ayanami analyzed her current situation in a cool dispassionate manner.

She was naked and in an intimate position with an unfamiliar male.

Oh. That's right. She'd died. When she reached the afterlife she'd requested reincarnation. Apparently because she was an essence fragment of the combined beings of Lillith and Yui Ikari, that had not normally been possible. She'd met a very nice dragon who'd come up with another idea. Said idea had caught the interest of someone in power apparently and she was here.

She was Rei Ayanami II, the 2nd First Child, sent back in time to try and discover such things as love.

In order to do that, she had been put here where she was now engaged to this boy - providing the necessary anchor to this temporospatial locus.

If that tie was cut, she would end up back at square one. So this was literally a do-or-die mission.

That said, Rei would immediately admit that she knew very little of the role of fiancee or girlfriend.

In fact, she knew little of this location other than it was in the past - Keele Lorenz hadn't even organized the Katsuragi Expedition at this point in time. So an additional consideration was that once she had stabilized her existence, she could then prevent or modify the situations that led to her death.

She did know the name of her fiance, at least. It was Ranma Saotome, a boy fated to die in two months if she did not intervene in a significant manner.

This was going to be difficult.
