And then she saw Ranma and the young and frightened face vanished under a battle mask, almost too quickly for Ranma to imagine. She was slashing forward, striking out with a glowing sword of red fire slashing out of her hand to strike towards him. He dodged out of the way and leaped back to land on his feet in a battle stance.
"Hey! What's up?" Ranma demanded.
"Where are they?!" the girl demanded flashing forward, blinking across the space between them, and grabbing Ranma almost before he could react.
Her power was extraordinary, probably up there with Saffron and Herb. She had been trained hard and well. But her real battle experience was still little, and in her rage she wasn't thinking her attacks through.
Ranma turned her power against her as he applied his knowledge of complementary energies to produce a minimal whirlwind to knock her back into a tree.
"I don't know," Ranma snapped. "I ain't been this way in ages! And who are you anyway?"
The girl stood up, grimmly.
"I am Minagi Masaki," she said proudly. "Who are you?"
"Ranma Saotome," Ranma said. "I trained here with Yosho once. Look, I just came to ask for some spiritual advice and everything's gone."
Minagi looked over him for a moment.
"Fine," she said sharply, dispersing her sword and appearing to slump.
"Are you okay?" Ranma asked.
"NO!" Minagi snapped. "Listen two weeks ago, I was visiting my mom and my step-parents. I went to bed, and when I wake up, Jurai palace is a decades old ruin littered with tomb robbers and dust. I come here, and its the same thing! Having everything you know just vanish overnight is not okay!!"
"You don't know anything about this?" Ranma asked, not bothering to ask where Jurai was. He thought it was probably somewhere in Europe or Antarctica or some place like that.
