"Wow!" exclaimed Ranma. "You became a boy like me! Neat!"
"Actually, Ranma, I am a girl," contradicted the blue-haired avatar.
"Huh? Are you sure?" demanded the perplexed boy. "You don't look very girly?"
"Yes, I am certain," afirmed the avatar. "I... What are you doing?"
"Just checkin'," Ranma replied innocently.
"I ... see," the blushing avatar pronounced slowly and drew back her arm. "However, for future reference ... do not do that again! Ever!"
"... got it...." Ranma said from thiry feet away.
"Oh, no! Are you alright?" the avatar enquired with rising panic. "I didn't mean to hit you so hard!"
"I'm okay!" Ranma answered after bounding back. "Wow. You got a great right hook!"
"Thank you," the avatar blushed. "... I think."
"So... you sure yer a girl?"
"..." elipsed the avatar. "You have a lot to unlearn, Ranma."
"Whacha mean?" puzzled the boy.
"Never mind," the avatar dismissed. "Anyway, we haven't been properly introduced. I am the avatar of Bahamut, Queen of the Metalic Dragons, Lady of the North Wind. You can call me ... Amethyst."
"Uh, right," Ranma grunted. "Okay then, Ami, uhm, I am Ranma Saotome, heir of the Anything Goes School of Incriminating Groping ..."
"That's 'Indiscriminate Grappling', boy!" corrected Genma, after ascertaining that the Crouch of the Tiger had once again proven to be a mightily effective technique and worked as well against mere dragons as it did against that even fiercer and far more frightening of opponents ... the wife.
"Yah, that!" little Ranma cheered. "Pleased ta metcha."
"Likewise," beamed the newly named avatar, then she bowed back. "I just know were going to be great friends."
"Humph," grunted Genma as he wondered just what he was going to do with a little girl.
