Things got a bit tense when Ranma asked why Theo recongized the rats. Theo explained they were the wererats that had made a few dozen attempts on Britanny's life and gave Brianna hell at the Leprechuan castle. The rats of course expected Ranma to blow his stack and seek 'righteous cheetah vengence' but Ranma was pretty mellow about it. (When Theo told him about Gothwrain it hit Ranma the Rats had no choice or their OWN lives were forfeit.)
" So Gothwrain sent you here to learn magic?" Seance questioned raising an eyebrow.
" Well the only magic here you'll learn is just about the Cursed Springs of Jusenkyo. There's no aura, elemental or any of the 'normal' means of magic we know of here." Theo spoke to the Rats sagely. " Except for the powerful chaotic magic that fules this place, you won't find anything worth of magical value."
" Sounds like that Gothy-baka sent you three here without thoroughly researching this place like my idiot of a Father did." Ranma commented.
" Or might he have hoped they'd be consumed by the Jusenkyo Curses as some form of punishment?" Seance spoke, although it was only an opinion...knowing Gothwrain it could very well be what was intended.
Romeo sighed. " I wouldn't be surprised if there were the case. Our lack of success has not put us in Lord Gothwrain's favor, instead we face his wraith, ire, etc, etc."
" In like, Layman's terms he could give a rats...well ya'know booty about us." We know who said that.
" Wouldn't be a big @#$%^&*ing surprise."
Ranma frowned. " Why don't you three ditch that loser and your clan altogether? Until that idiot bites it, it sounds like your clan is under the thumb of a power-hungry, paranoid tyrant."
" Cuz he'd $%^&ing have us killed Ranma that's why!" Lydia exclaimed.
" Yeah like....do or die ya'know."
" What they said."
" I think that's bullshit....look if you need help I'll be more than happy to helo kick the shit out of whatever this Gothwrain jerkoff sends after you." Ranma retorted sternly, yet with a hint of compassion.
Seance & Theo raised an eyebrow, but remembered Ranma at times Ranma's mouth and heart would work in tandum...be it a wise of foolish reason. It didn't surprise them he'd be willing to protect the rats, especially if one was a friend from his childhood. Theo also knew the Rats had nod lied or exaggerated their circumstances he KNEW Gothwrain and everything fit his MO, plus he could sense it if they were lying.
" You'd really help us?" Lydia asked looking at her friend who had become what she had beent taught to fear since childhood...but once she knew it was Ranma the fact he was a werecheetah...didn't matter.
" I don't leave friends hanging, and its the duty of a martial artist to defend those who are oppressed." Ranma replied.
" Even though we have harassed and nearly killed your friend Britanny and her sister Brianna during the Shoe Castle thing?" Romeo asked, wondering why this werecheetah was going out of his way to help them.
Ranma rolled his eyes. " I'm not exactly happy with that, but considering your circumstances and what you told us...you didn't have a choice."
Lydia actually smiled one that was geniune or had a sarcastic wit to it and hugged Ranma (thanful he was in human form she still a bit fearful of the hybrid form). " Still the same #$%*@ing nice guy."
Meanwhile Jusenkyo would have grinned if it had a face. It had just cooked up an idea to help 'better relationships between Werecheetahs and Wererats'. It certainly helped its 'favored child' knew a Wererat, and said Wererat had a childhood crush on him...it would work on this angle. But...best to greet its expected 'guest' and help set things up so the Armsmaster and others would be off its 'favored child's' back.
Theo blinked as he felt a tugging at his mind...something was calling him. " Everyone excuse me I felt something...Seance, Ranma, stay here I'll return momentarily."
Theo walked off toward the source of the mental energy until he found a cave. Feeling the source get stronger he went inside. After a minute or two of walking in a about 30 feet he found himself in a torch-light chamber where a HUGE pond-size spring resided. The spring gurgled and shoot up a geyser which took the form of a face.
" Greetings Theodore Diggers...I am..Jusenkyo...welcome to my parlor.."
Theo felt his mouth go dry a bit....he was actually starring and talking to the spirit of the cursed grounds. " How do you know my name?"
" Twas not hard...when you can see through the eyes of your 'children' and tap into the Etheral Stream in ways other deities cannot you'd be amazed at what you can discover..."
