Great Will: Evening Of The Comet (DARK) [Episode 49652]

"ASTEROID STRIKE UNSTOPPABLE, PRESIDENT IN HIDING"

Ranma read it over a few times to make sure that he was reading it right. It was impossible... He didn't watch the news, but he's sure he would have heard about something as monumental as an asteroid hitting the Earth many weeks in advance. He didn't recall having created such a thing... and even if he had, wouldn't there still be people here, running about and screaming of the End Times?

He had to know more, because things just were not adding up here. Ranma leaned against one of the many vehicles lining the street and began to read the newspaper.

ASTEROID STRIKE UNSTOPPABLE, PRESIDENT IN HIDING
Richard Fannigan, Associated Press

It seems humanity is doomed. Our last attempt to stop the mysterious asteroid
that appeared in the heavens three months ago has ended in dismal failure. The
rock is no longer far enough away to deflect it with another nuclear strike, and a
multiple-warhead attack strong enough to alter the stone's path now would
obliterate more of the Earth than if we did nothing to stop the impact. Pentagon
scientists are still unaware as to where the asteroid came from, or as to its material
composition.

It has been reported and confirmed that the President and Joint Chiefs of Staff have
been relocated to a bunker under Cheyenne Mountain. "The President is not
abandoning his people in their time of need," stated the White House press secretary,
"he is merely ensuring that those Americans that survive this catastrophe will not be
without leadership."

CalTech astrophysicist Bjorn Christianson suggests that repeaded attempts to deter the
celestial collision course with conventional and nuclear explosives have been fruitless
because the asteroid does not obey the normal rules of matter. "We don't know where it
came from, but we do know that it did not exist as of March. We don't know what it is, but
we do know it's unlike any asteroid we have ever seen, and may be unlike any thing in the
universe," Christianson said at a packed press conference this morning. "And logically,
what follows from this is, we have no idea what will happen when it strikes the Earth. It
could behave as normal matter, or it could pass harmlessly through. Or it could do
something else, something we can't imagine."

When asked what he was doing to prepare for the collision, Christianson replied, "Praying".

Lois, if you see this, I love you.

Ranma didn't understand how all this could have happened in such a short time until he saw the date on the paper: August 27th, 2041. It could be a fake, but Ranma didn't think so... and if it was accurate, that meant Ranma had somehow lost 47 years since he'd woken up that morning. He was pretty sure it had something to dew with his new powers as the Will of the Macrocosm... maybe to use them, he had slipped out of time. He could wish himself back to 1996, but he didn't know what kind of side-effects would arise from such a wish. No, he was going to be stuck here for a while.

It was beginning to turn dark, and Ranma began to walk along the sidealk, hoping to find some sign that people were still alive here. He went from road to road, crossing over thick flows of cars when he needed to, walking away from the setting sun. It was full night-time when he finally heard something besides his own footsteps. He heard something to his right, from across the street. He turned toward the source of the noise and saw:
