Urak was a land of magic and was ruled by a total of eight gods and goddesses.
The first four deities that were born transformed a desolate planet into Urak a beautiful land.
Terrak, the mighty god of Earth who formed mountains and forests, planets and animals forming beauty upon the land in all forms, as well as his chosen peoples the Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes and Halflings who made homes within or on the edge of forests. He created the magics of Terra-forming the land and using the Earth and Planets to hinder opponents, and strengthen casters and allies.
Ifrit, the god of Fire, found his way into cracks of the earth and into it’s center. There he bathed within warmth and fire, and created powerful volcanoes so his chosen people the Fire Giants, Fire Dwarves, Imps and Balrogs could live in the heat of his will. He created flame and heat based magics custom made to destroy, raze, and burn.
Sylph goddess of air created the weather and atmosphere, so that the land could breathe clean air, and plants could soak freshly fallen rain. She chose to create Air Giants and Elves, as well as the Fairies and Hawkmen who lived in the high mountains. She created magics to influence the weather, creating lightning and wind, as well as call upon the fog.
Finally Undine, goddess of water gave birth to oceans, lakes, rivers, streams and sea life, as well as creating her people, the Lizardmen, Mermaids, Krakens and Serpents who made their homes within of near the water. She created the first basic healing magics, as well as offensive and defensive water and ice magics.
As the first deities began to rest four more were born into the land.
Accord, god of Order arose to bring to the land a sense of purpose and being. He created Laws and Customs for people to follow. He created no beings, however Humans flocked forth to worship him and his ways and formed medieval towns and cities in the plains near the forests. He created magics that would summon benevolent spirits, as well as create magics that would attack a target on the astral plane rather than the physical one.
Lynden, goddess of Chaos saw Accords work and created an opposite for it. Were Accord created Laws and Custom she created Discord and Freewill. She created different kinds of beast-men, who lived their lives in small packs, but Humans too came to worship her as barbarians in the rocky hills. She too created magics to call sprits, however those sprits had free will and once summoned could help, or hinder, the caster. Lynden also created spells that would allow humans to speak with nature’s animals and have them assist in battle, if they were willing.
Llanwylln, goddess of life, created the desire to love and be love, to create new life and care for children and those in need. To her the elves came in desire to serve her, and in turn, serve life and nature. She created unicorns and pixies to help those of good heart. They lived in valleys and fields were flowers bloomed and life seemed to be at it’s peak. As the goddess of Life Llanwylln created her magics to help heal life rather than destroy it, creating the greatest healing magics of all, to the point were a seasoned caster of life magic could resurrect those whose spirits had not yet left the body. She only made a few attacks spells, however those were only designed to subdue, and were weak compared to others.
Lastly came Golgoth, the god of Death. He saw the power of Llanwylln’s magics and knew that if there was no counter to her the planet would overpopulate. So he created disease, hate and poison, as well as creatures of death who lived in the darkest swamps and deepest forests. He created for himself the Dark Elves, a counter to the elves who praised the goddess of life. He also created the UnDead, Zombies, Skeletons, Vampires, Ghost and Spectres. For magics he created all his magic for the same purpose, destroy the living. Spells that would lay waste to groups at a time, spread illness and raise the dead as horrible creatures.
And so the eight faiths of Urak: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Order, Chaos, Life and Death existed through war, peace and resolution. Yet none sought the destruction of any faith as ordered by all the gods and goddess... who understood the balance of the eight powers.
Earth and Air.
Fire and Water.
Order and Chaos.
Life and Death.
However, all civilization someday meets an end. All life on Urak one day... no longer existed.
Why or how life on Urak ended was a mystery that only the gods knew. However, they knew that it could not be stopped. Hence they sealed their essences inside eight crystals that would give a portion of their power to their wielder. The Earth Crystal, which was green the blue Water Crystal, the red Fire Crystal, the light purple Air Crystal, the white Order Crystal, the brown Chaos Crystal, the yellow Life Crystal and the black Death Crystal.
These eight crystals were dispersed into the Realms of Earth and Jade as the eight gods and goddess searched for an avatar to wield the powers that made Urak.
Some of the crystals have been found. Those that use them use their power to harm innocent lives. However, should the avatar defeat them or find the other unfound crystals each crystal would attach itself to the knuckle of the avatar.
And that avatar was chosen, and was about to be attacked by the bearer of the Water Crystal.
That bearer was...
