"Now that was rude Mr. Saotome."
Hearing the voice shocked Genma. Lifting his hand up, he saw that rather than being smashed to goo like he had expected, the annoying insect had dropped flat and used it's tiny, unfurled umbrella to block Genma's blow.
Closing his umbrella, Jiminy pulled out a small brush and started dusting himself off.
"Really, Mr. Saotome! It isn't proper to just attack someone without delivering a formal challenge. You don't want your son picking up bad habits now, do you? Why, if he were to start doing that on a regular basis, who knows what sort of reputation he would pick up!"
Frowning, and completely ignoring what the cricket was saying, Genma decided to try again. No insect was going to show him up!
"Papa, No!"
As Genma's hand came down again, Ranma tried to stop him. It wasn't necessary. Before Ranma had even finished crying out, Jiminy had moved.
Ranma's mouth dropped open as the little cricket moved almost too fast to see. Dodging Genma's blows with ease, Jiminy suddenly jumped up and smacked Genma on the head with his umbrella.
*WHAM!!*
Genma dropped like a rock.
Ranma stared for a minute at his unconscious father before turning his attention to Jiminy.
"Howedyoudothat!CanIlearnit?PleasePleasePlease!"
Jiminy twirled his umbrella with just a hint of pride. "Oh, just a little something I picked up from my good friend Gregory during our visits over the years. His boss, Kaioh-sama, even gave me this nice umbrella on one of my visits."
"Can you teach me? Pleease?!"
Jiminy considered the request. The last time he had offered to teach his umbrella technique as a reward had not been much of a success. He had lost track of the boy after only a few lessons. But, unlike Ranma, in that case he had not been bound to the boy. He had just offered because he thought the boy needed a few lessons in right and wrong.
