Relieved to finally have that out of the way, Esmerelda turned to the unwanted people on her bridge. “Well the mission has begun now. If something comes up for you, I’ll let you know of course.” Hopefully they would get the message and leave her alone.
Of course, they didn’t. Poor Esmerelda.
Earth Near-Orbit: Light Cruiser ‘Pathos Lumina’
This ship and its crew were chosen for the way they complimented each other. That didn’t mean that didn’t have their little problems and quirks.
Normally, Bria was a brave warrior, if a bit showy. Her trademark weapon being a near two meter long heavy cannon called a hybrid cannon she kept strapped to her back. Besides being powerful, the cannon’s ability to use virus and data energy at the same time created very flashy explosions. Her costume was similarly flashy, dark purple and pink leather most everywhere, with the rest of her body covered in white or cheetah spotted fur. Even the hair atop her head was similarly spotted blonde with a pair of cute cat-ears atop twitching to her emotions. Of course, the trick to the outfit being the fur was just as much as part of her power-suit as the fake leather. “Aww c’mon now! Can’t we just take the ship down?”
At the moment, Bria was pleading with Momo, who was wearing her normal blue robes with a square professor hat atop her head. Small circular wire-rimmed glasses completed the intellectual look, though the pure white long bunny ears coming from under her hat might have changed that image. Not enough however, as with her long slightly curly bright red/magenta hair she would have sent a certain ‘Earthling’ named Tenchi into a panic due to her passing resemblance to Washu. “No, we’ve been over this. We’re doing a stealthy orbital insertion.”
-[Real women don’t use parachutes.]-
Surprised out of her next excuse, Bria turned and glared up at the ceiling where Rei’s signal was coming from. Of course that woman would be listening in on them and then chastise her over the intercom. It was because of her they were doing this brain dead plan. “Parachutes?! Sane people use landing shuttles! Forget the landing, do you know what an Ionosphere like that does to fur? Mine’s practically brand new!”
-[If you’re more interested in playing cat-girl, then you can get a new job. Momo, get up here, we have our clearance. We’re leaving now.]-
The red-headed doctor nodded, patting the cat-girl on the back. “Come on Bria, you heard her. It’s alright if you don’t want to go.”
For a moment she stood there, then suddenly burst into motion as Momo stepped into the airlock, quickly ducking in and grabbing her tail so the door wouldn’t catch it. “huh, no way I’m letting something like this stop me.”
After the air-lock depressurized, the outer door swung open, allowing the pair to float outside. There on the bow of the ship stood Rei like a statue. Her slim red and black armor was polished more than usual in anticipation of this mission, the gold highlights shining brilliantly in the sun, especially the two large vertical shoulder plates. As soon as Bria lit upon the hull, she turned towards the cat-girl, brilliant emerald eyes locking onto her while her long blond hair swirled behind her.
Then she thrust out her left arm, showing off how from the elbow down it was actually a forearm shaped cannon, a Data Buster, the barrel lighting up as swirling green energies gathered there. First is started as a mass of twining green lines, swirling outwards and connecting in a tangled mesh. The lines faded and flattened, leaving behind vines of apparently greenish tinted glass. Finally color and texture arrived, creating wooden vine like branches with green leaves, woven into a roughly circular shield anchored to the gun barrel.
Bria looked at the shield a bit incredulously. –[Is that what we’re using for re-entry?]-
Soundlessly Rei turned around, except for the transmitted vibrations long the hull of her short heels. –[It’s what I’m using, you’re riding with Momo.]-
Bria turned around in time to catch Momo’s smile as the two bits floating over her shoulders started to glow white as they opened up. A rapid flurry of feathers and white light heralded the explosively quickly creation of two large white pairs of feathered wings.
Seeing they were ready, Rei burst into motion, engaging her inertial drives to boost her sprinting speed until she was a blur running down the hull of the ship before leaping off towards the blue globe below. Following her lead, Mono wrapped her arms around Bria, carrying them both towards the planet below on her wings, despite being in a vacuum.
The red-armored woman hit the ionosphere first, the trailing vines of her shield flowing backwards and completing the shield into a teardrop shape, protecting her from the friction heat of reentry. Following the glowing red comet were the unlikely couple of terrified cat-girl and calm bunnygirl. Before they hit the charged atmosphere, Momo brought her wings in and cocooned them in the artificial feathers.
When mono opened her wings and slowed herself down so much that Bria lost her grip on the bunny-girl, the world was greeted to the sight of one panicked cat-girl attempting to fly.
Well, Rei at least was greeted by the comical sight. Smiling slightly she opened her arms towards her sides, slowing herself down and passing Bria in a graceful mid-air pirouette.
Gritting her teeth the cat-girl brought the large boosters in her backpack online, rapidly catching up to Rei while screaming, “I hate yooouuuu!!”
Grinning slightly, Rei brought in her arms and passed the over-reactive cat-girl again on the way down, while resisting the urge to have an impromptu game of mid-air tag. –[Just remember. Try to hit those little islands down there, or you’ll have to swim there.]-
Bria managed to scream louder.
Several residents of Tokyo looked up as three blurs zoomed by overhead, far to fast to identify. While the girls had slowed down a great deal, they kept part of that speed and used their various flight powers to zoom along just over the ground and avoid all the poles and buildings.
After a fantastic game of dodge the speeding objects, Rei did a handstand on a wall, neatly flipping over it before landing in the yard beyond.
Bria’s scream was cut short as she face-planted right into the wall, not quite breaking the extra thick stone edifice. With a few flaps, Momo gently landed and assisted the dazed girl, before dismissing her wings.
Before Bria could start complaining about the sudden stop, Rei raised them over their private net. –[Nodoka is within thirty meters of my position. We’re securing her first and she should have information on Ranma. She seems to be alone, so this should go well.]-
-[Understood.]-
-[Yeah yeah. I still hate you though.]-
