Belldandy blushed for a moment. "You see, due to a bug in our computer system, I was called to offer a wish to one Tatewaki Kunou." Ranma shuddered; the idea of Kunou with a divine wish boggled the mind. "The exact wording of the wish was, and I quote, 'I wish for Ranma Saotome to be destroyed so that I may claim the pig-tailed girl as my bride.' The system, sensing the problems of manipulating others, interpreted the wish in a manner that would provide the best possible outcome for you."
Ranma swallowed. "Best... possible... outcome?"
Belldandy shrugged. "Well, you see, the man known as Ranma Saotome had to cease to exist, according to the rules of the wish. I... because of my desires, your male form was changed to match my idea of an ideal man." Belldandy grimaced; clearly, this whole affair was proving distasteful for her. "As for your female half... you have a choice. You may choose for your male and female halves to be split, after which your girl half would undergo bridal training to become Tatewaki Kunou's mate, and your male half would go on to another life. Or you may choose to take the training on your own, without being split into two bodies."
"How is THAT the best possible outcome?" Ranma screamed. "Me.... and HIM?!?"
Belldandy twiddled her fingers together. "You could be dead... fortunately, the Ultimate Force felt that such an outcome would be... extreme." She bit her lip nervously. "I'm horribly sorry. Yggdrasil normally doesn't do things like this..."
Ranma shuddered, not quite believing. The gods have decreed that the 'pig-tailed girl' was doomed to marry Kunou. If Belldandy wasn't so nice about it, Ranma would have decked her one. "So... either I choose to become Kunou's bride, or my female half gets split from me to become Kunou's bride."
"Those are your options, yes," Belldandy sighed. For some reason, her face seemed wrong; to Ranma's eyes, a goddess should be smiling. "Which do you prefer?"
Ranma looked down at her feet. She had to make some sort of decision. With a sigh, she opened her mouth, and said, "Wait a second. There has to be another way! Heaven would not - could not - be this horrible! What did I do to get condemned to THAT hell?"
Belldandy frowned. "Could you excuse me for a moment?" She turned around, picked up the phone, then dialed a number furiously.
Ranma couldn't understand the language being spoken; it sounded like some European language, like Swedish, and Ranma didn't understand a word of it. Whatever was being spoken, at least, was fast-paced, and slightly heated. After a minute, Belldandy put the phone down, and turned back to Ranma.
"Father has said that He would do something for you after the marriage. He didn't say what, unfortunately..." She clasped her hands together. "So. What is your decision?"
Ranma sighed. If she had to make a choice...
